Sr. Mechanical Engineer specializing in Machine Design

Scientific Applications and Research Associates (SARA) is seeking inventive experts with accomplishments in robotics, machine design, and physics. We especially value candidates that have a knack for big picture thinking as well as the analytic/experimental tools to understand critical details and first principles. SARA employees are highly self-motivated. They enjoy themselves while excelling as members of a multi-disciplinary R&D team.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Physics and/or PhD Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience. As this division continues to grow, we are developing offices in Colorado Springs, CO. This position will be based in Colorado Springs. Relocation considerations may apply. Candidates should be US citizens that are able to apply for and obtain US security clearances.

Job Scope

We will develop advanced mechanical systems The Sr. Physics and/or Sr. mechanical engineer will support and lead projects to develop mechanisms with special purpose in high voltage.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience using 3-D CAD. (SolidWorks, ProE, Autocad, etc.)

• A willingness and ability to travel for field tests and customer briefings,

including occasional extended travel working long days at remote test sites

• The completion of self-directed projects that remains relevant to division R&D goals

• Ability to work as a member of a small disciplined team of developers

• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, organization of thought

• Motivated self-starter, able to complete projects with minimal supervision

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance
