We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Medical Records Coder. To qualify you must have a High School diploma or equivalent and be a graduate of an accredited coding program with a minimum of three years coding experience plus have and maintain one of the following credential of certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), as well as have an advanced level of understanding of Medicare and other third party payment methodologies, billing systems and software applications, including but not limited to 3M, QuadraMed, SoftMed and Specialized Medical Services (SMS) in addition to proficiency in MS Office applications, Word and Excel and have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for abstracting pertinent clinical information and assigning appropriate ICD9-CM, CPT and HCPCS Level II codes; creating the APC group assignment; applying appropriate modifier codes when applicable; maintaining HIM compliance standards and reporting violations to supervisor or manager; performing chart reviews; mentoring less experienced Medical Record Coders in order to resolve problems and responding to inquiries that are elevated; querying physicians for less experienced Medical Record Coders to resolve conflicting, incomplete or ambiguous information; assisting in maintaining the Cancer Centers Discharged Not Final Billed and other reports; plus all related job duties as assigned. Excellent communication skills are essential.

Hospital experience preferred.
