Essential Responsibilities
As a Senior Mobile Solution Researcher, you will lead the execution of projects (apart from research and development) in areas of mobile and fixed wireless solutions that will increase the productivity of various GE business units and customers. You will also be innovating new wireless solutions using mobile technologies that will significantly enhance the businesses’ product and service offerings.
You will provide leadership to our software sciences and analysis R&D teams in order to provide a cohesive, holistic, user-centric and machine-oriented concepts and prototypes of GE’s next generation products and services.
As a Senior Mobile Solution Researcher, you will work in a multidisciplinary team to:

  • Use technical knowledge to independently innovate, influence, develop, and implement in the areas of Fixed and Mobile Wireless solutions/applications/services and make significant impact on project deliverables.
  • Identify key technical issues and focus resources to produce cutting-edge technical breakthroughs in the area mobile solutions technology.
  • Leverage your skills and experience in Mobile Applications, MEAP, M2M, Mobility, wireless networking, sensor networks, iOT, domains to provide directions to cross-functional technology and business teams to design systems, and develop technology.
  • Work directly with internal customers and external research agencies to identify opportunities, build partnerships, write proposals and secure research funding.
  • Lead research teams to prototype solutions & provide technical guidance for new products.
  • Collaborate and work with fellow researchers to respond to customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a technical expert/mentor and offer guidance to junior Mobile Solution researchers.
  • Contribute and lead in IP generation i.e., patents/copyrights, publications, etc.
  • Grow and contribute to new research projects through close interactions with the GE business units and their customers.
  • Effectively communicate results by writing papers and giving presentations of your approaches, results achieved, and value obtained to GE businesses and senior management.

    Qualifications/Requirements

    • Doctorate degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience with a focus on software or technology development (OR) Master’s degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience with a focus on software or technology development.
    • A minimum of 2 years experience in developing applications and services using at least one of the following: Google Android, Apple iOS, Windows Mobile, Symbian, or BlackBerry OSs.
    • A minimum of 3 years of development experience in at least one of the following: native C/C++ code, .NET, JAVA, or HTML5.
    • A minimum of 3 years of project leadership experience.
      Eligibility Requirements

      • Must be willing to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA.
      • Must be willing to travel.

        Desired Characteristics

        • Demonstrated knowledge of IoT (Internet of Things).
        • Demonstrated understanding and developed mobile applications/services for Field Services, Operations Centers, and Workforce Automation in different markets.
        • Understanding of cloud computing with knowledge of deploying and developing applications on Software as a Service (SaaS) layer.
        • Understanding of Linux, Windows and other Desktop/Server based Operating Systems is also preferred.

        • Ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
        • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
