Position Summary:
The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting the overall strategy and lifecycle of network solutions encompassing LAN, WAN, Telephony, Remote Access, Wifi, Mobile, and 3
rd
party suppliers. The Senior Network Engineer will work closely with Internal IT, business owners, and external service providers to align network services strategies with enterprise business strategies.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise network services to meet the business and IT needs; including data communication, WAN/LAN technology, network monitoring, IP communications, telephony, remote access, and other technologies as defined Research, test and apply major communication equipment IOS upgrades
Write configurations for new communication network installations and upgrades and provides oversight for configurations created by contractors or other staff members
Position acts as a third level of support to resolve complex communication issues
Leads in creation of operating manuals, network design diagrams, and other documentation.
Analyzes and presents analysis of traffic statistics and trends to develop metrics for the data and VOIP networks
Conduct competitive analysis, reviews business requirements, and prepares cost justifications for projects
Manage vendor performance and processes, define support requirements and analyze other relevant data elements
Advocate and implement the integration of all collaboration services over the data network
Seek continuous improvement opportunities for network services and cost optimization
Provide guidance to infrastructure development projects and partner with IT Operations to determine when it is necessary to modify technical architecture to accommodate business needs
Support the delivery of network services projects and provides consultation for impact to business and application portfolios
Maintain an understanding of current technologies, trends, business strategies, and infrastructure capabilities
BS in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, or related field
5-7 years in voice and data communications, vendor management, and networking
Cisco CCNP or CCIE certification preferred
Hand-on enterprise-level knowledge of routing protocols (IGRP, OSPF, EIGRP, etc.)
Working knowledge of TCP/IP protocol, LAN networks - Ethernet,
Working knowledge of Wide Area Network (WAN) including MPLS, frame relay, ATM, IP network, and SONet
Hand-on enterprise-level working knowledge of Cisco's CUCM
Experience in driving cost effective technology innovation
Strong process orientation with a proven track record of understanding and improving processes
Proven experience in the competencies of change, continuous learning, driving to excel, problem solving and innovation, and valuing and respecting others
