Participate in the planning and design of enterprise security architecture.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain network security procedures, guidelines, and baselines
  • Maintain up-to-date detailed knowledge in network security including emerging security alerts and issues, awareness of new or revised security solutions, improved security processes and the development of new attacks and threat vectors
  • Assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and implement if required
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of security enhancements
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors and contractors to obtain protection services and products
  • Perform the deployment, integration and configuration of security solutions
  • Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall network security
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform security improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases
  • Deploy, manage and maintain all security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and anti-virus software
  • Design and document baseline (hardened) configurations for computer systems and network equipment
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights
  • Manage security for internal and external networks, including Internet and DMZ
  • Manage and ensure the security of data transferred both internally and externally
  • Design, perform, and/or oversee penetration testing of all systems in order to identify system vulnerabilities
  • Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution
  • Recommend, schedule (where appropriate), and apply fixes, security patches, disaster recovery procedures, and any other measures required in the event of a security breach
  • Download and test new security software and/or technologies
  • Provide on-call support to end-users
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • College diploma or university degree in the field of Information Technology and/or 7 - 10 years equivalent work experience
    • Certifications in Microsoft or Cisco preferred
    • Security+ and Network+ certifications are required
    In depth technical knowledge of the following:
    • PC and server platform operating systems, including Windows Server 2000/2003/2008, Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7
    • Cisco network equipment including ASA 5500 series firewalls, 3750/2960 series switches, 3000/2000 series routers, and IOS software
    • Vulnerability scanning software such as GFI Languard, Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA), and Nessus
    • McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and Enterprise Anti-virus
    • ManageEngines EventLog Analyzer
    • Web and e-mail filtering solutions
    • Broad knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, data encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices
    • In-depth technical knowledge of web and e-mail filtering software
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity suites and applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
    • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and network administration/protocols
    • Intuition and keen instincts to pre-empt attacks
    • High level of analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to conduct research into security issues and products as required
    • Excellent attention to detail
