The Senior Oracle DBA will be responsible for the overall management and administration of the Company’s Oracle databases and data warehouse environment ensuring high performance and availability of these systems. This position will also work closely with Data Warehouse.
The Senior Oracle DBA will:
Perform senior Oracle DBA duties in a professional, timely manner.
Perform database installations, setups, and configurations.
Perform database performance tuning.
Perform regular and period maintenance operations on database including upgrades and applying appropriate patches.
Plan, develop, implement, and maintain database disaster recovery procedures including regular backup procedures.
Develop and maintain Unix scripts to support database operations and services.
Plan, develop, implement, and maintain Oracle database security.
Plan, develop, implement, and maintain appropriate database monitoring and alert procedures.
Proactively monitor database to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues to ensure data base performance and availability.
Provide Oracle related application software installation and support.
Designing and develop database architecture that supports business and technical objectives in a data warehouse environment.
Assist data architects, designer, and developers with data model definition, creation of various database objects such as tables, materialized views, dimensions, stored procedures, etc.
Provide both Oracle database support and assist other IT support teams in resolving related issues.
Work with third parties to ensure that the Company’s databases are maintained, available, and performing according to expected service levels.
Communicate with management regarding issues concerning database service levels.
Write documentation and procedure manuals and track changes and revisions to manuals.
Develop capacity plans based on the assessment of both current and future requirements.
Develops skills through classroom and/or on the job training in the Oracle database server and related technologies.
Actively participate in the Company Performance Management Program.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5+ years experience in data base administration with hands-on experience with Oracle 9i/10G/11G RAC using ASM in UNIX and Windows Server environments. Experience with Oracle Exadata a plus.
Experience with Veritas Netbackup software or similar product.
Minimum 5 years experience managing and administering an Oracle database for an enterprise data warehouse.
Demonstrated experience working with data warehouse architects and developers in building a high performance Oracle enterprise data warehouse.
Demonstrated experience with planning, designing, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Oracle 11G/10G/9i RAC databases.
Demonstrated Oracle 11G/10G/9i database performance tuning skills.
Expertise in PL/SQL programming.
Demonstrated ability in performance tuning for Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
Demonstrated ability developing UNIX shell scripts.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft applications, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint.
