Position Description:
Provide technical leadership and support on all the stages of database Architecture, Implementation and/or database related operational support.

Principal Accountabilities:
Serves as the highest level technical expert in Latest Database Technologies and architecture and able to provide technical leadership to team members.

Recommends Database architectural direction based on industry standard technology evaluations.

Participate in project meetings, as necessary, to understand application and database requirements.

Acts as key technical contact point for all database architecture decisions within a given project and ensures that appropriate level of architecture reviews are conducted.

Advises project teams of standard requirements, security standards, methodology and processes. Acts as SME in the plan and design of new solutions.

Builds relationships and fosters teamwork: Ability to work with diverse internal and external groups including solution and hosting providers in a constructive and collaborative manner.

Follows project management best practices in support of large, complex, enterprise projects and is able to estimate required work effort.

Has highly developed problem solving skills within their area of database technology leading to reduced impact to customers.

Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, SOX regulations, and company policies.

Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments.

Ability to work independently and to resolve complex Oracle issues. Work with development teams to tune SQL queries.

Troubleshoot Oracle performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs.

Able to provide Subject Matter expertise and Lead DBA team members on projects and at times of Incidents.

Proactive monitoring of the databases

Manage backup/recovery for Oracle instances

Management of database and resource capacity planning.

Installation of new Oracle instances and upgrades.

Setting up and resolving issues with Oracle Data Guard environments.

Ability to develop data requirements and configure database parameters accordingly.

Communicates in a manner that conveys credibility and confidence that he/she will deliver on the customers needs.

Drives and passionately implements the spirit of the customer first, second to none, with his/her associates, colleagues and customers.

Must be able to interact with customer to set and meet project goals with only general instruction. Goes the extra mile for the customer to the extent that it is reasonable.

Takes or directs persistent, repeated and varied actions to overcome technical or people obstacles, rejection or failure and resolve customer issues/concerns in a manner that exceeds normal expectations

Must be able to work with multiple groups to resolve data issues

Makes complex ideas or situations clear, simple, and/or understandable

Provide solutions to development teams when proposed solutions do not comply with architectural, configuration, performance, or security guidelines.

Provide recommendations for process improvements

Provide after hours support as required

Knowledge of IT architecture, infrastructure standards, database platforms and programming languages and tools

Demonstrates a deep understanding of emerging technologies and trends that could impact the field and the business.

Willingness to learn the business and new technology.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Min. experience of 10 yr. required

Strong production support experience within a large financial organization & customer service skills

Oracle 10g and 11g Database Administration and Management on HP/Solaris and Linux environments

Oracle internals

Proven track record in supporting large number of db simultaneously

Oracle Database Tuning and Performance - usage of statspack, AWR, ADDM, ASH and UNIX native commands

Oracle DataGuard Physical Standby configuration, build and support including DataGuard Broker

Storage considerations for Oracle Database Performance

Oracle backup and recovery configuration and procedures

RAC

Advance Security Option

Oracle Enterprise Manager/Grid Control for environment standardization

Oracle Streams,

Golden Gate

experience preferred

Oracle ASM experience preferred

Oracle Exadata experience preferred

EXPERIENCE IN SQL SERVER 2000/2005 a BIG PLUS
