The Senior PMO leader is a seasoned employee who will work with internal global leaders on project management disciplines. Primarily the position will facilitate business leaders in:
• identifying opportunities that drive execution of business strategy
• the funding approval process for those opportunities
• prioritizing the project portfolio to ensure that resources are applied to the most important initiatives
In addition, the Senior Leader will work with business clients on project risk management and mitigation, correcting portfolio health issues and balancing the portfolio against strategic business priorities.
The Senior PMO Leader will lead monthly meetings with business clients and the people / departments that support delivery of project priorities (e.g. IT, Operations, Claims, HR, etc.).
The role will require global travel.
The position requires a strong entrepreneurial background and a history of creative thinking, even if it comes from a large company environment. It demands the ability to effecrtively communicate across the full spectrum of staff up through Executive levels . The successful candidate will be able to synthesize input from multiple constituents, develop a cohesive plan for execution and gain acceptance from participants to drive execution and change. That will require an ability to work independently toward solutions, take positions in difficult situations and occasionally take a firm stance on controversial decisions.
The position requires thoughtful insight and it will require the ability to identify and prevent negative unintended consequences. It will require leadership characteristics and negotiation skills to drive functional / global process consistency to ensure that operating segments perform similar tasks the same way.
10+ years of history in increasing leadership positions is necessary. A Bachelor's degree is required and an
MBA is preferred.
