Senior PeopleSoft Business Systems Analyst serves as a facilitator and technical/functional resource throughout the UCPath PeopleSoft HCM implementation, providing functional and technical application expertise for various PeopleSoft Modules (HR, Payroll, Benefits Administration, Commitment Accounting, and Absence Management). This position will provide leadership for reviewing new business processes and solution designs to ensure that cross-functional teams fully understand the impact of decisions made during system configuration. The Senior PeopleSoft Business Systems Analyst will gather and document requirements, define and document setup and configuration, review technical specifications, and may conduct & facilitate fit/gap analysis and design sessions. This position will provide functional and technical support for PeopleSoft enhancements and customizations from concept to completion, helping to drive the successful implementation of the Oracle HCM PeopleSoft UCPath system.

Job Duties

  • Configuration and Setup 60%
Provide business process expertise by understanding business direction and designing systems that will support key initiatives. Provide insight and guidance on functional designs.

Provide functional and technical support for PeopleSoft enhancements and customizations from concept to completion.

Gather and document requirements, define and document setup and configuration and conduct & facilitate fit/gap analysis and design sessions as required.

Translate business requirements into business process flows, task/activity definitions and high-level data models, user access, interfaces, reports, configurations and extensions/enhancements

Provide PeopleSoft 9.1 HCM functional and technical subject matter expert leadership to the team.

General Functional Specialist skills with specific responsibility to:
  • Support functional design translation, requirements gathering and user testing
  • Define and develop functional configuration deliverables in accordance with systems development life cycle methodology
Research and understand HCM practices and regulations applicable to the UC business processes and translate them into PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 requirements.

Communicate effectively and correctly in writing and verbally on a variety of business and technical matters

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Technical 40%
Collaborate with the technology teams to review and analyze functional and technical designs.

Validates requirements against needs.

Configuring set-up of PeopleSoft HCM system tables using automated and manual methods.

Work closely with the Technical teams to translate business requirements into technical requirements for development and testing

Defining business requirements based on input gathered from a variety of sources including analysis results and industry best practices

Provide alternatives to Configuration based on best practices

Define quality attributes, interfaces, constraints, and other non-functional requirements

Participate with team members in prioritization of identified requirements

Manage requirements traceability information and tracking the status of requirements throughout the stages of implementation

Ability to conceptualize and communicate business needs and translate them into actionable solutions

Participate in development of test plans and scripts, as well as defining expected results for all tests

Participate and support Functional Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System
Testing and User Acceptance Testing

Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirement documents, functional and technical designs.

Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Need to be an expert in PeopleSoft HCM 9.1 system configuration and have minimum of 8 years experience in PeopleSoft HCM, including at least 2 years of recent PeopleSoft 9.1 HCM implementation experience

Need to understand the integration of PeopleSoft HCM with other systems (PeopleSoft Financials, Campus Solutions, etc.)

Knowledge of HR and Payroll policies, procedures and systems (i.e. Federal/State Law, ADP etc.) as well as hands on configuration experience with various PeopleSoft Modules (HR, Payroll, Ben Admin, Commitment Accounting, Absence Management) is an essential part of this position

Need to have experience with Configuration strategy preparation (migration, procedures & practices, determining automated and manual methods, etc.)
  • Requires thorough knowledge of business analysis function.
  • Must have knowledge relating to the design of applications programs.
  • Requires skills associated with analysis of processes and problems, information flow and architecture.
  • Requires interpersonal and communications skills in order to work with both technical and non- technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
Ability to quickly learn new systems (UC, 3rd party systems)

Experienced in configuration and module implementation roadmap in relation to the sequence of config tasks, interdependencies between PeopleSoft modules

Need to be expert in Human Resources setup - Foundation Tables (i.e. Installation, SetID, Business Units, Business Unit Options Defaults, Company, Locations, Establishments, Departments, Frequency, Comp Rate Code, Job Codes, Job Family, Job Function & Job Sub Function, Salary Plan, Salary Grade, Salary Step, Profiles, Faculty Events, Citizen Status, Visa/Permit, Ethnic Groups etc.), Expert in setting up Employee Information in PeopleSoft (Person Data, Job Information, Emergency, Contacts, Dependent/Beneficiaries, Disability, Identification Data, Creating Checklists)
