Designs and develops applications to support financial, human resources and budgeting operations. Creates architectural solutions for proposed new projects and provides the time and cost estimates associated with these architectures. Evaluates vendor products to determine if solutions should be built on off-the-shelf applications or built internally. Establishes programming standards and program documentation requirements. Monitors and reports on system design processes. Reviews current status of system applications and recommends system improvements.
Work closely with PeopleSoft users to gain understanding of requested business requirements from both a functional and technical perspective. Create logical and physical data models. Develop code, detailed programs and reports to support design specifications. Design and conduct unit tests, integration tests, and accomplishes coding/design error mitigation. Support and contribute in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle.
Applies knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter expertise, and logic to analyze application and database design specifications.
Reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made affect physical database. Confers with coworkers to determine impact of data base changes on other systems. Modifies, codes, tests and implements physical database, applying knowledge of data base management system. Tests and corrects errors, and refines changes to database.
Provide time-critical production support for payroll and financial processing. Provide support after normal business hours when scheduled or on an emergency basis
Assumes leadership in specific assignments and manages time for projects and other tasks. Provides technical consultant services to internal customers with problem definition, development of multiple options for resolution, and implementation.

Maintains commitment to staying current and well informed of advances in all aspects of information technology and the telecommunications industry through perusal of literature and attendance to classes and exhibits. Actively participates in conference, seminars and other relevant training opportunities as they arise. Ground and/or air transportation may be required.
Maintains existing PeopleSoft Enterprise applications for finance, human resources and budgeting as well as designing/developing new related functionality/systems. This includes the development of architectures, gathering detailed requirements, detailed design documentation, software development and testing support.
Maintains vendor relationships to access off-shelf application software for demo purposes, purchase contracts, and system maintenance.
Coordinates with infrastructure and QA teams to ensure that all software development lifecycle processes are followed and that infrastructure is in place to support new functionalities.
Reports for work on time and maintains a satisfactory attendance record.
Technical training or knowledge: Must have advanced-programmer level knowledge/experience in the following technologies: SQR, PeopleSoft Query, nVision, Crystal Reports, PeopleTools, PeopleSoft Security, PeopleSoft Workflow, Application Designer, Application Messaging, Application Engine, PeopleCode, strong knowledge of SQL, and UNIX. Knowledge and experience of Crystal Enterprise, Java, J2EE, EJB, JSP, RMI/IIOP, ODBC preferred. Competence in SQL for relational or object-oriented databases (Sybase, Oracle, or MS SQL) is also required.
Professional training or knowledge: Requires ability to work in a structured development environment, with multiple team members working on inter-dependent code segments. Must be able to research new concepts, technologies, and development methods, and present/explain where these fit in the current environment. Must remain current with changing technology, periodic training is often required.
Work experience: From 8 to 10 years PeopleSoft Technical experience ? a minimum of 3 year experience with 8.x. Past experience will demonstrate a progressive increase in responsibility in application software, database development and maintenance/configuration.
License required: Valid California driver's license.
General education or equivalent: Must have successfully completed the requirements for a Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent post secondary educational degree. PeopleSoft certification for the PeopleSoft tools listed above is preferred. Progressive experience in application software and database development and maintenance may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
Physical Demands: Physical demands are minimal and consistent with the performance of routine clerical duties in an office setting. Most of the day is spent sitting at a desk, working with computers, printers, files, and standard office equipment. Movement is required in the use of office equipment, supply locations, files, and other work locations and meeting rooms. Limited physical activity is required to file, maintain office supplies and materials and maintain office equipment.
