Job Summary:
Commercial Insurance Premium Audit is looking to hire a Senior Premium Auditor to independently perform examination of policyholders' accounting and financial records to insure accurate calculation of earned premium for large, complex risks. Insure that audited exposures (payroll, sales, fixed assets, etc.) are accurately calculated within strict insurance guidelines. Communicate audit findings through detailed formal reports supported by audit workpapers. As needed, coordinate assignment of large, multi-location audits inter-regionally, wrap up multiple individual audit assignments to ensure accurate form and presentation for billing purposes, and conduct internal claims, loss or financial audits. Work with Special Investigative Unit (SIU) to investigate/resolve instances of potential fraud. Act as formal mentor for inexperienced premium auditors, and contribute to department results through special assignments.

Responsibilities:
Review appropriate company files and documentation to determine specific coverages provided by the policy and plan audit strategy.

Investigate policyholder operations to verify correctness of coverage exposures and classifications as they apply to the policy and insure conformity to various state laws and insurance regulations. If evidence of potential fraud, work independently with Special Investigative Unit (SIU) to research further and resolve.

Prepare detailed workpapers and written correspondence in support of audit findings.

Prepare and disseminate post-audit information to various departments (Sales, Underwriting, etc.) to initiate necessary changes to the policy contract.

Perform test audits on selected policyholders at policy inception to: ensure all exposures were identified and properly classified; establish proper policyholder accounting practices as they pertain to auditing procedures and insurance regulations.

Independently schedule audit appointments with policyholders with respect to priority of audit assignments and efficient time utilization.

Prepare routine office and department reports such as: Production Reports, Itineraries, Expense Accounts, etc.

As required: coordinate assignment of multi-location audits for large risks inter-regionally; wrap up individual audit assignments to ensure accurate form and presentation for billing purposes; conduct internal claims audits.

Act as formal mentor for inexperienced premium auditors.

Contribute to overall organizational results through special assignments; e.g., conduct on-site reviews with premium auditors, participate in quality peer review teams, prepare/conduct training sessions on special topics.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business-related discipline, relevant accounting or premium audit experience a plus

Knowledge of accounting concepts; effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills needed to exchange information with people at many different levels in an organization and resolve disputes

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications

A valid driver's license is required for regular travel to customer locations

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage own workload and increasingly complex tasks, including those requiring coordination and guidance of other workers' activities

At least three years' premium audit experience
