Position: Senior Process Engineer (JS-04-13)
Reports To: Chemical Engineering Lead & SOP Plant Manager

Compensation: Base Salary $ 85,000 +/- (Commensurate with Experience)

OUR CLIENT: Is a worldwide leader in the production of minerals including salt, sulfate of potash specialty fertilizer and magnesium chloride with locations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible to provide technical support to optimize plant operations, calculate heat and mass balances and fluid mechanics calculations, maximize production rates, reduce costs, manage capital projects and maximize product recovery. Operations run 24-hours a day on a year round basis.
IDEAL CANDIDATE Will Bring To The Table:
BS Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering Minimum of 5 years experience in automated process control design and maintenance, project/process engineering preferably in a heavy industrial plant setting. Experience debottlenecking, troubleshooting chemical and material handling problems and identifying solutions. Experience with managing Capital Projects including design, cost estimates and overseeing outsourced engineers and vendors. Direct experience in computerized plant process control design and operation, verifiable ability to recognize plant process improvement opportunities and/or problems and resolve them in a technically sound and cost effective manner. Experience calculating heat & mass balances of plant process, performing fluid mechanics calculations to size new pumps and piping. Lean manufacturing training and Six Sigma Green or Black Belk certification a plus Experience mentoring engineers in “a hands on lead by example” manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Calculates heat and mass balances of plant processes. Performs fluid mechanics calculations to size new pumps and piping and to evaluate existing systems for problem solving and optimization. Conducts plant and lab tests to measure the impact of process changes on plant performance. Assess analysis and makes recommendations accordingly. Troubleshoots chemistry and material handling problems, and identifies solutions. Identifies opportunities to improve plant efficiencies and prepares CAR with supportive documentation Performs design and cost estimates on new projects & manages capital projects as required. Regularly monitors plant operations to assure safety, quality and cost controls meet expectations. Supports KPI development, measurement, communication, and continuous improvement utilizing continuous improvement tools Deliverables:
Plant optimization as defined by improvements in: process control/automation, throughput, recovery, reliability and energy efficiencies. Projects managed to scope, schedule and budget. CAR investment substantiated by project payback/benefit. Develop appropriate written operation procedures for the SOP processing area Education and Experience:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred.) A minimum of 5-years experience in automated process control design and maintenance, project/process engineering preferably in a heavy industrial plant setting. Direct experience in computerized plant process control design and operation, verifiable ability to recognize plant process improvement opportunities and/or problems and resolve them in a technically sound and cost effective manner The ability to effectively interact and communicate with a wide variety of company team members. Lean manufacturing training is a plus. Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Certification is a plus Computer Skills:
Complete proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is required. Proficiency with AutoCAD. Proficiency with MS Project or similar project management scheduling software. CMMS systems knowledge is a plus. Proficiency with Chemical Modeling Software such as Aspen
