Celanese Corporation in Florence, KY is seeking Senior Process Improvement Engineers
(Multiple Openings) to provide process engineering improvement recommendations and drive the implementation of best-in-class specialty product resins compounding process in order to improve safety, quality and reduce overall costs. Specific job duties of this position include: (i) carrying out compound engineering plastics using Twin Screw and Single Screw extruders, raw materials qualification; (ii) utilizing blending methodology and feeding techniques; (iii) monitoring pelletizing, classification, packaging and process control; (iv) providing technical product and equipment-related troubleshooting, process design, plant design, machine selection, equipment installation and commissioning, project start-up, and equipment and process training; (v) working with the Global Compounding Core Technology Leader to finalize and participate in the equipment layout, selection, workflows and startup for planned compounding process area expansions within global compounding units; (vi) serving as a liaison among compounding peers in Europe, Asia, and the Americas related to product transfers, process, equipment technology, process control and training; (vii) tracking, identifying and implementing global best practices for new compounding techniques, process and safety improvements; (viii) identifying key equipment and process changes to maintain minimum 7% (+ inflation) year-on-year productivity; (ix) ensuring efficient, reliable transfers of new equipment and product technologies related to Thermoplastic Compounding from scale up to manufacturing sites globally.
Must hold a Master’s degree in Chemical or Polymer/Plastics. Must know (through academic training or work experience) in Thermoplastics, scale up from R&D to commercial manufacturing and yield control; compounding plant process and design. Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally 30% of time. The position is eligible under the company’s employee referral program.
