Job Title: Senior Product Manager
Location: New York City
Serving as I.T.’s link with business clients, the Senior Product Manager will act as the subject matter expert for the functional operation of the software applications and business processes. Working with other team members, the Senior Product Manager will act as a consultant using detailed knowledge of process, application features and functions, assesses scope and impact of client business needs. Provide over-sight and guidance of Product Managers, Senior Business Analysts and/or Business Analysts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Work with the business to understand and document current as well as future needs and processes.
Working with the business, write the project scope for project/program.
Advocate product enhancements by conducting ongoing product monitoring and analysis of industry trends and best practices.
Prioritize and balance short and long term business goals.
Working with the business, ensure legal, compliance, and/or audit teams have been contacted and the product complies with regulations and policies.
Conduct requirements gathering and create project documentation (Requirements, Use Cases, Process Workflows) for new products and product enhancements.
Work closely with the business and IT functional groups to communicate and clarify business needs and contribute to development on long-range plans.
Liaise with technical counterparts (Engineering QA, IS-Operations) to ensure correct technical and functional flow/design.
Provide functional guidance to technical team to resolve issues.
Provide implementation support and guidance to business training teams.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
Advanced knowledge of IT solutions, business process analysis, and functional specifications.
Three to five years of demonstrated experience in business operations or product management for financial institutions.
Proven experience defining and documenting processes and requirements enabling full business and technology stakeholder understanding.
Working knowledge of project management methodology, workflow-modeling concepts, and related information systems.
Working knowledge of Rational Unified Process – RUP methodology desired.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and to quickly learn the business in unfamiliar areas.
Online financial services experience a plus (banking, credit card.)
Consulting experience a plus.
Language/Reasoning/Mathematical or other specific skills:
Superior documentation expertise including experience creating Project Scope, Business Requirements, Functional and Non-Functional Requirements, Workflows, Use Cases, and Training Material.
Advanced analytical thinking and creative problem solving. (Ability to define multiple approaches to business problems, exposure to business process re-engineering.)
Familiar with full software development life cycle.
Ability to build relationships with diverse teams.
Attention to detail a must.
Strong ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Technical knowledge of internet development and environment.
Ability to maintain clear communication with others about mutual expectations
Oracle database experience including PL/SQL, SQL, Development and Database analysis a plus.
Can-do attitude in solving complex issues under pressure
Leadership expertise, with quick decision making and prioritization skills
Excellent analytical, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
