Schneider Electric Transportation has an outstanding opportunity for a passionate/motivated individual to assume the role of Senior Project Manager in our Seattle, WA location. The Senior Project Manager position is responsible for entire project(s) operations including margins, technical, sales, operations, and personnel to successfully meet and complete project targets and deadlines at or under budget. This position is responsible to assisting Sales in identifying new opportunities with his/her clients as well, as well as assisting in the preparation and writing on proposal materials for those opportunities. - Proposal Planning and Preparation
o Understands and supports the proposal process, roles and schedule.
o Participates in the proposal development process whenever possible.
o Understands contract deliverables, requirements, and T&C
o Interfaces with leadership to provide status and to solicit strategic guidance
o Manager project budget
o Manage subcontractors to include teaming agreements and non-disclosure agreements
o Understands the complexities, dependencies and interdependencies associated with the work, including internal and/or subcontract support
o Understands and documents mitigating plans for potential project issues and risks
o Participates in determining required resources (amount and type), skills, appropriate resource loading/distribution necessary to perform the work and deliver the project on time and at or below cost, including role/responsibilities of internal partners and contracted team partners
o If applicable, determines the DBE requirements, agency rules, etc. and how those rules will impact the work share.
o Assists in preparing necessary corporate approvals for new contracts (project and operations)
o Assists in the development of cost estimates for both projects and operations/services work
- Contract Award and Project Delivery
o Sets team expectations, goals and values and provides all management leadership across both projects and operations/services contracts
o Assists in the planning and build out of the required infrastructure to provide contracted services or project delivery, including facilities and staffing
o Validates/revises/updates scope of work and time requirements of the contract
o Verifies/revises/updates subcontract arrangements, any DBE requirements, and internal support
o Prepares a project or operations management plan appropriate for the work type, scope, complexity, requirements, schedule, and contract type; identifies critical plan elements to routinely monitor and assess (project control points)
o Confirms or revises estimate, schedule, work plan, among booked and project % GM
o Manages and documents client-driven scope changes; assess impact and initiates appropriate action such as internal communication, estimate/schedule/work plan revisions, change documentation, and amendment preparation
o Manages and documents internal contract changes that affect booking, cost or margin; coordinates with Project Administrator
o Does not deviate from contract scope (additional or reduced work) without impact assessment, written authorization from the client and management approval.
o Manages cost, schedule and work plan; manages to the spend plan (cost-budget tracking); updates/revises spend plan (budget forecast) at least monthly; manages to schedule; updates/revises activities, durations, milestone dates at least monthly
o Conducts a comprehensive review of project or operations costs, including accruals, at least on a monthly basis; coordinates with Project Administrator as needed
o Manages cash flow on at least a monthly basis. Manages and reconciles earned revenue to unbilled invoicing
o Coordinates team activities with schedule and estimate; facilitates regular team communication and regular team status meeting
o Communicates potential issues immediately upon identification to management, deliver team, and client (if appropriate)
o Documents delivery issues, changes, and decisions in writing and maintains in the contract record
o Develops impact assessment for potential issues with mitigation strategies
o Develops cost/schedule recovery plans; submits for review and approval, including preparation of Economic Summary
o Manages cost of the work by internal partners and contract project team members; coordinates routinely with System and Software Engineering sections regarding cost and delivery of respective work product
o Reviews and approves subcontractor and vendor invoices; supports resolution of any payment issues
o Reviews and verifies that an accurate invoice is submitted to client at the end of the month or, upon meeting a client deliverable milestone, or other payment trigger as identified contractually
o Facilitates daily interaction with the project team, Project Administrator, and the client; is easily accessible and visible to the client and meets with the client on a regular basis to address delivery and cash management issues
o Coordinates with the Project Administrator to close the contract (by stage or entirety); reconciles accounting, invoicing and receipts; client closeout
- Bachelors degree or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience in transportation or similar industries
- 3 years supervisory in Tolling
- Strong understanding of tolling or ITS planning, design, integration, operation and maintenance
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills including industry relationships
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- PMP preferred, but not mandatory (successful candidate will obtain a PMP)
- Experience maintaining critical path driven projects in Microsoft Project
