In Tidal's Systems Product Development (SPD) Division, Project Managers drive execution across the major software life cycle functions: Business Analysis, User Experience, Architecture, Development, and QA through deployment. There are 2 main types of projects within SPD: (1) Business Initiative (similar in scope to a small program), is a logical grouping of software projects aligned with one or more business objectives, (2) Release (aligns with a traditional SDLC-based project), which is a collection of functionality ranging from business initiatives, small enhancements, and bug fixes. The SDLC methods include waterfall, incremental, and iterative, but transitioning to Agile/SCRUM.
The Senior Project manager will manage one or more projects (initiatives and/or releases) within the Software Product Development division. This position reports to the SPD Program Management Office.
•Establish project scope and alignment with business roadmap. Work with Release Management team within SPD, business partners, SDLC functional teams, and technology operations as necessary to define the scope of a project and its alignment with overall business roadmap(s).
•Create, manage, and drive execution to the project plan to deployment(s). This includes managing and aligning cross project dependencies.
•Effectively manage changes to scope/expectations/deliverables and deliver on plan or through a modified plan that has been accepted by the stakeholders. Lead re-plan activities and/or develop alternate delivery scenarios as necessary.
•Hold regular status meetings with the teams. Report status weekly to stakeholders and executive leadership as necessary.
•Record/remediate/escalate critical/high project issues.
•Identify, collect, manage, and where possible remediate project risks.
•Identify, collect, assign, and manage issues to closure.
•Lead project meetings. Record key points, decisions, risks, or action items and publish back to the project team.
•Develop a thorough understanding of the projects/applications within their scope of influence.
•Store all project-related material in a centralized data store. S&T utilizes Confluence.
•As applicable, approves team members’ time and expense reports and track to project budget.
•10 years of experience in IT, with no less than 5 years of experience managing software projects for online software product company(ies); deep experience managing waterfall, incremental, and iterative projects is required. Experience managing Agile/SCRUM is a plus
•Successful candidate must be comfortable driving execution while working in conjunction with functional managers. They should have multiple years of experience delivering projects in this role. Experience leading a virtual or matrix team is important as well.
•Successful candidate must have a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle. Prior experience as a software developer, business/technical analyst, or QA tester is a plus.
•Successful candidates are self-starters who can lead with minimal direction, exhibit judgment, can balance tactical and strategic outcomes, and possess good communication skills (communication across multiple levels organizational levels will occur daily). Must be able to deliver difficult/sensitive information tactically.
•Experience managing multiple concurrent projects is a plus
•Experience with MS-Project and/or a portfolio management tool (e.g., AtTask, EPPM, Primavera) is required. Experience with AtTask is a major plus.
