The Real Estate Unit Senior Property Underwriter contributes to the success of underwriting goals as well as corporate goals related to growth, profit, and renewal retention while managing an individual book of $25-30million in size. The underwriter analyzes account specific information (including but not limited to loss information, financial, compliance and loss control reports) develops recommendations based on account analysis that will be used for account strategy, determines pricing strategy and manages the overall account to profitability.

Position Description/Roles/Responsibilities:
• Handles complex Real Estate property risks
• Identifies market opportunities working with agents and brokers
• Researches and analyzes Real Estate industry trends (insurance and customer) to stay current, and identifies emerging issues affecting business plans, new product and service opportunities
• Initiates and sustains close relationships with Chubb’s Commercial Property accounts, producers, industry associations and specialized service providers
• Effectively markets and supports REU Property Manager in product and service initiatives
• Collaborates with Loss Control, Chubb Services Corporation, Chubb & Son Claims Department, and other Chubb business units to implement Real Estate industry segment business plans, and service standards
• Initiates and supports ways to exploit Chubb's global capabilities
• Accountable for achieving assigned goals for profit, rate, growth and retention
• Responsible for overall management of all assigned renewal accounts
• Point person for all new business production, and sales and marketing within assigned region
• Must have exceptional documentation and risk analysis skills
• Interprets and compares global coverage and exposures in multi-jurisdictions, while complying with all regulatory mandates
Book Management/Pricing Skills:
• Utilizes current data and initiates customized information to interpret pricing and exposure trends in REU account management process
• Initiates appropriate actions to sustain profit on the REU Property Book
• Develops pricing proposals utilizing advanced techniques (Master Rating Worksheet and the Profit Calculation spreadsheet)
• Recognizes and evaluates the impact of risk transfer and various pricing mechanisms, and recommends appropriate action to enhance long-term profitability of REU Property book.
Consulting:
• Offers creative solutions that contribute to achievement of REU business results
Risk Selection:
• Recognizes and advocates certain expectations to underwriting standards and creates viable options
• Assesses rate adequacy of REU Property book relative to exposure assumed
Client Management:
• Interactive process of developing and satisfying existing and prospective producers/customers consistent with Chubb's underwriting objectives
Travel: Minimum of 30% travel within the United States.
**This position will be filled at a pb8/9 level depending on skills/experience.**
Competencies/Technical Skills:
• 5 years plus overall insurance experience
• Experience underwriting Risk Management commercial/financial institution/real estate Property risks
• Exposure to broker manuscript forms and contracts
• Strong marketing, sales and presentation skills are required
• Proven track record in developing strong broker relationships
• Must have excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Must exhibit solid team orientation with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing business environment
• Ability to work well internally with varying levels of zone/branch management and underwriting personnel on communicating REU’s appetite/issues
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
