New York, NY Job Description
Supports the vice president of corporate public relations in executing external and internal communications for several of MetLife’s corporate areas, including Investments and Finance
Develops key financial communications materials, including those that support Reg FD requirements with press releases on topics such as earnings, investor meetings and dividends
Designs and executes internal communications projects including plan creation, research, content development, writing, editing, securing approvals and distribution
Implements media relations plans and develops related press materials, including news releases, media lists and executive bios
Maintains and expands relationships with media contacts, including responding to inquiries and pitching news developments; serves as a key press contact for MetLife’s Investments area, working with portfolio managers to coordinate media interviews
Provides counsel to internal clients on media relations and internal communications strategies; prepares executives for speaking with the press
Creates and distributes daily media report for the CEO and senior management team
Monitors editorial calendars, articles/reports, blogs, etc. about MetLife and its competitors Job Requirements
7 or more years of experience in a media relations role in a publicly-traded company, either in a corporate or agency setting, preferably in the financial services or insurance industries
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Strong media pitching and writing skills
Proactive in anticipating communications/business needs and the ability to adjust quickly to changes or shifts in priorities
Ability to build relationships with members of the news media and within an organization
Experience working with and maintaining confidential and sensitive information
Extremely detail-oriented; strong project management skills
Bachelor’s degree preferred Business Category
