POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:|
The Senior, Regional Accountant – Latin America will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing the Latin America Region’s monthly financial packages for accuracy and completeness. This position will assist the Regional Accounting Manager with the monthly regional close and the identification of processes, systems and reporting improvements for the region and will interact directly with the Finance Managers in the region and work with the Regional Accounting Manager in the identification and resolution of accounting issues.
Assist with the month-end close for the Latin America region.
Review and analyze countries financial statements, variance analysis and monthly packages.
Prepare and reconcile intercompany reconciliations with affiliates.
Prepare and analyze transfer profit schedules.
Perform review and analysis of countries’ balance sheet account reconciliations for SOX compliance.
Perform analytical reviews of monthly submissions for US consolidation and ad hoc reporting.
Review Local to US GAAP reconciliations and identify US GAAP compliance issues.
Participate in the netting process for intercompany settlement balances.
Interact and support Finance Managers to resolve variance analysis, systems issues and account reconciliations. This role will heavily interact with sub regional controllers and finance managers and will assist the Regional Manager in analyzing issues and proposing solutions from the system and accounting perspective.
Assist Regional Accounting Manager with process improvement and special projects. Projects will include design of new templates for balance sheet reconciliations, design of new reports to perform monthly analytics, improvement of the month end reporting process.
Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance and ability to identify accounting issues
Strong understanding of financial statements analysis and reporting.
Solid analytical and problem solving skills
Detailed oriented with strong documentation skills
Superior communication skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Ability to multi task and work under tight deadlines.
Experienced using large accounting software (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP)
Proficiency in Excel (Advanced level)
Bilingual English/Spanish: must be proficient in both speaking and writing
4-6 years of combined private and public accounting (at least 1 year experience at a senior level performing audits in public accounting).
Experienced understanding process flow, auditing transactions, identifying accounting gaps and proposing corrective actions.
Experience working in large corporate and public accounting environments (Big 4)
Experience with foreign currency transactions and multi-location reporting.
Experienced in documenting accounting issues and conclusions.
1+ year of supervisory experience
Bachelor degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting
Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and accounting best practices
Understanding of local statutory accounting & tax laws (Latin America)
