UHC, a national alliance of over 100 academic health centers, has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Analyst in the Performance Improvement department.
This position has the primary responsibility of providing an advanced level of analytical and statistical support for the UHC Research Institute. This individual will work closely with other high-level UHC staff, and possibly member hospitals, in conducting research featuring UHC data. This position may assist UHC in obtaining grant funding for research. This position also plays an integral role in the performance improvement programs, and would serve as an expert support resource for analytics.
Through provision of ‘next level’ analysis and methods, this position will support UHC’s goals in being ‘top of mind’ in providing solutions to member needs; this position will also increase UHC’s national recognition and influence in the areas of measure and performance improvement.
-Master’s degree and 5-8 years related experience and/or training
-Demonstrated knowledge of the health care industry required; demonstrated knowledge of the academic medical center enterprise strongly preferred. Knowledge of hospital and clinical staff, including but not limited to laboratory, radiology, nursing, medical staff, etc.
-Experience with medical terminology, ICD-9 and CPT coding.
-Demonstrated proficiency in SAS. Experience working with databases (preferably SQL Server) and large datasets. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Demonstrated knowledge and application of statistical techniques in data analysis and data mining.
-Strong project management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines
-Consultative and communication skills in explaining advanced statistical concepts, study design and modeling techniques to other technical and non-technical team members and individuals at UHC and member hospitals is required.
-Experience in presenting analysis results at national conferences relating to quality and performance improvement in healthcare.
-Experience in publication of research results in peer-reviewed literature is preferred.
