Leads data collection efforts geared toward the characterization of corn and soybean production environments. Assist in the analysis of environmental data using advanced statistical and crop growth and development models to support the development and placement of maize and soybean products adapted to abiotic stresses. Support applications of environmental data for plant breeding and product characterization and placement worldwide. This position requires a client service focused, socially agile individual with outstanding quantitative analytic and computational abilities. Duties/Responsibilities Coordinates the deployment of environment monitoring instruments in research field locations
Oversees the flow of quality controlled data from proprietary environmental monitoring instruments and public sources into central database
Works in conjunction with research scientist and other team members to develop applications of crop growth and development models for environmental characterization, breeding, and product management and placement
Assist research aimed at characterizing Pioneer maize and Soybean products for differential sensitivity to environmental stress using deterministic and stochastic modeling tools
Apply appropriate statistical models and data visualization tools for exploratory analysis of vast amounts genetic, phenotypic, and environmental data
Facilitates information flow between team members, the project leader and other parts of the company
Maintains positive interactions with the clients and provide support to decision-making processes
Works under limited administrative/strategic direction. Self-directed in technical efforts Education and Experience M.Sc. in Agricultural Meteorology , Agronomy, Soil Sciences, Biosystems Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience required. Equivalent levels of relevant education and experience will be considered. Competencies Availability for traveling mainly within the central and western U.S.A.
