The incumbent Senior Safety Consultant will work with leadership, management and front-line employees within Caterpillar facilities and dealerships, as well as with external customers, to build safety management systems of excellence through the Zero-Incident Performance (ZIP™) Process. Through standardized workshops, the Senior Safety Consultant will coach leaders to embrace and demonstrate a visible commitment to safety, will provide supervisors tools to develop systems of accountability, and will guide employee-led continuous improvement teams through the development and deployment of leading indicator processes that integrate safety into every part of business.
Job duties will include but are not limited to:

-Provide safety consultation and cultural assessment services that enable organizations to lead, build, develop, implement and check safety culture improvement initiatives; including:

-Facilitate workshops and training events focused on leadership and safety culture; including key

insights to safety management success, and specific loss control process methodologies and tools

-Lead Safety Kaizen Events that result in quick and significant loss control process improvement,

employee and leadership ownership, and applicable visible accountabilities across the entire


-Conduct communication skills improvement workshops to improve personal and work group cultures

-Conduct facilitator skills and train the trainer type workshops designed enable problem identification and problem solving skills sets within organizations

-Engage and coach executive, front line, and safety leadership in the understanding and application of key safety management principles, culture changing actions, strategic planning and execution

-Analyze perception and interview assessment data to determine cultural realities within organizations; including report writing and verbal communication to client leadership teams

-Develop training materials and programs designed for individual client needs

*Passionate about safety including characteristics like:
*Continuous Improvement philosophy of always working toward a zero incident safety culture, both from technical and interpersonal means
*Ability to credibly challenge hourly and salaried leadership when they are in danger of making a

Required Qualifications:

* T en plus years experience in the field of safety, human resources or other applicable capacities involved with safety, operations and working with both salaried and hourly people in a team building environment

* Thorough knowledge of company products, product applications or merchandising programs
* An understanding of logistics & manufacturing systems and dealer operations
* Good human relations skills to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department

*Basic understanding of safety accountability, leading indicator focus, and culture assessment


*Excellent presentations skills: must be able to develop and give engaging presentations to the full

spectrum of hourly and management personnel

*Must have credibility when they speak and be able to respond quickly and appropriately when asked challenging questions

*Team work experience: Continuous Improvement teams and problem solving skills that engage hourly and salaried personnel in a relentless pursuit of operations and safety

*Ability to effectively engage personnel at all organizational levels

*Ability to use problem solving and basic continuous improvement tools such as fishbone diagrams, process flow diagrams and mapping, etc.

*Can work with others to develop practical solutions to the daily operations and ongoing safety


Desired Qualifications:

*Professional certification in safety (CSP) or other related profession such as Human Resources

Professional, Certified Facilitator or Six Sigma Black Belt

*B.S degree in safety, human resources or related field

*Mature, self motivated individual able to work alone and travel significantly

*Experience in the realities of an operations culture and knowledge of the fundamentals of safety

*Ability to communicate complex technical information

*Previous leadership experience

Additional Information:

-There is no relocation available for this position.

-This position will be located at employee's home office.
