Altria Group Distribution Company’s role is to provide sales, distribution and consumer engagement services for Altria’s tobacco operating companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Sales Training Specialist to join our Customer & Marketing Services department in Richmond, VA.

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and identifying organizational needs, designing and delivering training and development activities/programs to improve the organization's capability and effectiveness.

Specific accountabilities include:
  • Independently leading the design, development and execution of training programs for ~2,300 sales personnel to enhance the knowledge and skill base of internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for the training and development of upper levels of management
  • Providing analysis, identify and develop recommendations and present solutions to improve the effectiveness of training and development methods and strategies for all sales organization levels
  • Leading cross-functional teams to design, develop and deliver knowledge transfer and skill-based training of new products, promotions and business strategies
  • Managing project team(s) on short-term assignment through defining project scope, establishing individual responsibilities and expectations, and setting project direction
  • Providing direction and guidance to management on training and organizational development strategies to enhance capability
  • Managing vendor relationships through providing direction and guidance on design, development and delivery of programs and materials, including negotiation of contracts for services
  • Developing and implementing assessment programs and activities to identify skill capability and long-term growth and management potential

Specific Skills
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Field sales experience with leadership and account management responsibilities are preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of sales concepts and strategies
  • Strong knowledge of products, processes and business systems
  • Advanced verbal communication skills and strong written skills, including facilitation and presentation skills
  • Instructional design knowledge is preferred
  • Ability to lead project teams and influence without authority
