The Department of General Services, Division of Consolidated Laboratories (DCLS) is recruiting for two Senior Scientists to serve as team leaders within the Immunology and Virology laboratories. Positions # CL043 & CL637.
These positions requires a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology, medical technology, biology or a closely related field with applicable laboratory experience and current compliance with CLIA as a technical supervisor. The selected candidates must demonstrate considerable knowledge of microbiology, immunology, quality assurance, and lab safety.
Competitive applicants will have experience with or knowledge of the following: virus culture and isolate identification, slide reading, ELISA methodology, blood typing, and agglutination reactions.
Experience conducting moderate and highly complex analyses; operating and troubleshooting complex laboratory equipment and computers; demonstrated ability to coordinate, lead, and prioritize work of others; to train personnel; and to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to compile, formulate, draw conclusions and provide interpretations of data, including the ability to recognize and troubleshoot an improperly functioning assay.
Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as demonstrated experience with information management systems (word processing, spreadsheet, laboratory management systems) are necessary.
Selected candidate must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
Master of Science degree.
Weekend work, on a rotating or emergency basis, may be required.
In order to comply with OSHA blood-borne pathogens requirements, DCLS offers the Hepatitis B vaccine. The rabies vaccine is required and offered by the employer. Biosafety Level 3 containment laboratory work is required and the OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard is required which involves passing a respiratory physical prior to working in a BSL-3 laboratory. The respiratory physical will be provided by the employer.
