Johns Manville, A Berkshire Hathaway Company, is currently looking for a Senior Security Engineer for our corporate office in Denver, CO.

As part of a diverse JM Information Technology (IT) team, you will be working with an array of cross-process modules within the full SAP application suite, including Business Objects Business Intelligence. The full suite of functionality was successfully deployed across over 30 North American locations from 2009 to 2011. The Enterprise Security Engineer will work on (design, implement and support) a variety of projects supporting enterprise security solutions for network infrastructure, complex engineering environments, manufacturing/plant floor, and other areas of JM.


Network security assessment/remediation

Implement and sustain a Vulnerability scanning and remediation regimen.

Perform and/or coordinate Security assessment including network penetration tests and Web application pen testing as required.

Perform risk assessment and gap analysis to optimize security effectiveness in areas of need. Security Operations/Incident handling/incident remediation

Review security events and perform analysis on the events detected or escalated.

Identify and react to network attacks, viruses, and intrusions.

Develop and coordinate remediation plans when compromises occur. Forensics

Provide forensic analysis of security violations and perform investigations as requested.

Experience with Encase forensics\enterprise to perform investigations.

Advise on security best practices, security strategy, security architecture and design.

Assist with security policy and procedure documentation and diagramming.

Assist with the management, implementation, and support of secure mobility architecture.

Assist the network engineering staff design and implement network systems to meet business and security needs.

Develop continuous improvements to the network operational security framework, standards and metrics.

Utilize effective project management and oversight to ensure on-time delivery of security enhancement projects.

Review security designs to optimize security spend and eliminate security-associated risks.

Utilize effective vendor management.

Develop and implement an effective security awareness program.

Review and implement requests for service access through firewalls and verify they meet security policy and guidelines.

Monitor the latest network security risks, threats, exploits, and vulnerabilities and proactively ensure that the risk to JM from these threats is appropriately managed.

Work collaboratively with various JM organizations to implement and provide operational support for network security solutions that protect JM's network and computing environment.

Identify, analyze, and resolve complex network security issues.

Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to persuade, convince, or influence others to take appropriate action via presentations and documentation.

Must be proactive and self-motivated with a passion for innovation, results, customer focus, and an ability to work independently.


Minimum of 5yrs experience is an IT Security role

Switch/Router/Firewall (Cisco)

Web content filtering (Cisco)


VPN (site-to-site, client, and web-based)

Cisco wireless

Authentication systems

  • Cisco ACS
  • Microsoft PKI

Load balancing (Cisco ACE and Microsoft ISA)

SIEM Systems

Web Proxies

Web Application Firewalls

Knowledge of best forensic practices for device and network


Ability to design and integrate complex security solutions that improve the efficiency and security of

the corporate network infrastructure.

Knowledge of high performance, secure data centers.

Knowledge of Manufacturing systems, SCADA, and Process control Network


Strong understanding of SSL certificates and Public Key Infrastructure.

Requires some travel depending on the project(s) being worked.

Requires participation in on-call rotation


Must have Project management skills and experience
