Position Title Sr Sequencing Specialist
Sr SEQUENCING TSS ROLE DESCRIPTION:Position Objective:
This position is responsible for driving sales while working jointly with the field sales specialists in Next Generation Sequencing. The successful candidate will act as a technical leader within the sales force, providing both pre- and post-sales support to meet or exceed revenue goals.
Understand the technical aspects of the Life Technologies next generation sequencing products and how these will work with customer projects. Understanding the application, implementation, costing and time to execute are fundamental to the position.
Identify major accounts and high potential opportunities in order to assist the sales team in the development and penetration of these accounts through market, technology and application assessment and understanding.
Drive and present at user group meetings, seminars, workshops and technical trade shows as well as provide training to the field sales specialists in the area of Next Generation Sequencing.
Provide feedback to the business segment on product performance in the field and suggested solutions.
Work with the regional sales teams in the development of key accounts, including driving technical conversations and project design meetings.
Responsibilities include: lead generation, forecasting, team selling with regional sales specialists, moving opportunities through the sales cycle, and facilitating communication between the customer, the regional sales team, and the business segment.
Keep abreast of current and potential competitive activities in the territory, work with field marketing to develop and provide tools for challenging competitive threats.
Participate and attend sales and marketing meetings, as required.
May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Requires a BS is Molecular Biology or Genetics. PhD and expertise in Genetic Analysis strongly preferred.
At least five years in a similar technical or sales role including participating in market analysis and planning around Next Generation Sequencing or similar experience in a DNA sequencing lab. Strong communication skills required. Business development and planning skills, project management, and cross-functional team leadership experience preferred. Proven ability to see new business opportunities, set and meet aggressive objectives, and develop strong working relationships also preferred. Knowledge of relevant markets (ie: academic, biotech, pharmaceutical, agriculture and clinical), and sequencing industry is a must. Requires self motivation as well as the ability to work in a team and independently. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills at all business levels required.
Extensive travel of >70% is required.
