The People Platform team, is on a journey to reimagine how people communicate with each other, and is looking for bright software hackers like you. If 100s of thousands of requests per second, hundreds of millions of users, billions of objects, sound like your kind of fun, then you will thoroughly enjoy being on this team.
The team builds and runs one of the largest distributed storage systems that stores data about people and their relationship with each other. This forms the basis for Skype’s people graph, and is the connected address book that is available across all devices (Windows, iOS, Android, …) and various applications, besides Skype. The team is starting on efforts to the make the communication experience much more seamless than what it is today. Besides explicit relationships it is looking at tuning into other signals that indicate relationship between users and allowing communications between them.
You will have the opportunity to work with a smart group of developers, PM, test and service engineers, on large distributed systems, web services, sync protocols, among other things. And you will have the pride in seeing your friends and family using products that you help power.
We are looking for an awesome software designer with strong design and problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will love to solve complex problems, write elegant code, care deeply about performance, and enjoy working with teams across multiple projects, and love to use the products she/he makes happen every day.
Qualified candidates will have 4 or more years of relevant systems experience and should have demonstrated technical excellence in producing efficient and maintainable code. Successful candidates will be versatile programmers, possessing troubleshooting skills, debugging proficiency, and the ability to work independently and collaborate with other members of the team. Candidates must be able to develop software with C# (or equivalent languages). Experience with large scale systems/protocols (HTTP, JSON, database systems, SOAP, distributed messaging) is preferred, but not required. A B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related field is required.
