The Lexington Park, MD Division (near the Patuxent River Naval Air
Station) of AMERICAN SYSTEMS has a contingent opening for a Senior
Software and Systems Engineer.
SCOPE: The successful
candidate will lead an advanced technical team performing flight
control software design, test, and development for manned and
unmanned aircraft. The technical tasks will include leading the
development of the software architecture for flight vehicle control
and ground station software, performing Systems Integration Lab
development and testing, Hardware-In-The-Loop development and
testing, flight test plan development and execution, and following
DO-178B processes and documentation.
The Lexington Park
area is rich in technological heritage. Home to Naval Air Warfare
Center – Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD), the Naval Air Systems
Command (NAVAIR), their many tenant activities, and over 150
technology companies, the Lexington Park area has been designated a
Technology Corridor in the state of Maryland. Saint Mary’s
County is a great place to live, work and play, with 24 historic
landmarks, museums and churches, 18 marinas, four golf courses, and
Washington, DC and Annapolis, MD within easy driving distance.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer or
Electrical Engineering; Master of Science is highly desired.
REQUIRED SKILLS: 20+ years of practical software and systems
engineering experience including development of real-time flight
control software for manned and unmanned aircraft; support of
integration and flight testing; and flight data analysis of flight
control software. Program management and software team leadership
experience in the area of flight controls required. Excellent
documentation and report writing skills are essential for this
position. In addition, the successful candidate must excel in C/C++,
Visual C++, Java, OpenGL, X windows, Qt, Motif, and assembly
languages. Must have experience with Linux, Unix, Windows, and
real-time operating systems, device drivers, and Kernel development.
Must have Compact PCI and PC-104 hardware experience.
REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE. Candidate will be required to obtain
and maintain a Secret Security clearance upon hirirng .
DESIRED SKILLS: Experience with IDEAS software, aircraft flight
dynamics and control theory and application, and familiarity with
aircraft electronics and avionics systems and related issues is a
