Opportunity Overview

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Senior Sponsored Research Specialist at Seattle BioMed. This position is responsible for organizing the preparation and submission of NIH and other funding agency grant applications. This individual will coordinate the scheduling and planning for submissions of new grant and subcontract applications. S/he will prepare internal forms to initiate grant set-up and communicate with appropriate staff members across the Institute. In addition, this individual maintains grant application information and all forms associated with the application process including Other Support, Faculty Biosketch and funding agency specific forms. In general, s/he assists in coordinating the grant application submission process from inception to submission.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain schedule of grant application submissions and coordinate planning and submission dates with Investigators.

Utilizing a collaborative approach with the PI and Scientific staff, manage the application submission process: arrange and manage the schedule, work with the individual Programs in data collection and follow-up, develop budgets and other financial information, manage the internal review and sign off process, and prepare a timely submissions to the funding agencies.

Act as the primary point-of-contact for all submissions including Federal (both electronic and paper) manage issues and problem resolution. Involvement with non-Federal electronic and paper submission as required.

Serve as liaison between the Sponsored Research Office and appropriate Seattle BioMed staff.

Keep current with NIH regulations and compliance with focus on application submission process as well as regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience with NIH research grant application submissions, awarding mechanisms, and regulatory requirements (R01, R21…)

Experience with the preparation and submission of cooperative multi-center/project agreements. (U01, U19…)

Experience with the RFP, bid and proposal process for Federal Contracts

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Exceptional attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Experience with building grant and project budgets

Familiarity with budget reports and analysis

Strong computer skills and experience with applications including the MS Office suite Word and Excel in particular. Experience with electronic application submission applications a plus.

Familiarity with A-122 and A-133 a plus.
