SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT, BENEFIT ACCOUNTING, Office of the Vice President for Finance (VPF), to assist in the administration and analysis of claim, premium, and administrative expense payments to a variety of benefits vendors for MIT self-insured plans and ERISA plans. Will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity between benefits that employees have signed up for and the benefits for which the carriers invoice MIT; resolve discrepancies with Benefits Services; perform analysis of benefits financial data; prepare financial reports and 5500s for management; monitor COBRA administration; prepare Summary Annual Report; review and analyze claim information from third-party providers; and perform other relevant duties as assigned. Will also review existing business processes and internal controls and make recommendations for improvements, and use SAP and financial reporting tools (BrioQuery/Data Warehouse) to develop reports and streamline processes for reconciling and managing Benefits Accounting financial data. Will work within the Financial Accounting and Reporting group and collaborate with VPF, Benefits Services, and MIT Investment Management Company staff and with external auditors.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields; at least three years' experience in accounting and financial operations; proficiency in Excel and Word; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; good written and oral communication skills including the ability to maintain effective communications with benefit vendors' representatives to resolve any issues or obtain additional information for analyses; strong analytical and organizational skills; and a customer service focus. Experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting highly desirable. Experience with computerized software packages also desirable (SAP and BrioQuery a plus). MIT-00009378-O
