BioPhase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for San Diego's Scientific community. We are currently looking for a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to work for a leading San Diego biotechnology company.
Sr. Staff Systems Engineer
Will lead and contribute to the development of new, industry-leading genetic analysis platforms for life sciences and clinical markets. The Sr Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for the architecture, design, prototyping, and transfer of DNA sequencing equipment that include complex optical, mechanical, electrical, chemistry, and software sub-systems. The Sr Staff Systems Engineer will be responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, developing plans, performing analysis, and innovating new technologies.
Job duties and responsibilities include:
Develop architecture, and write and manage system and sub-system requirements based on marketing input and product definition. Create and manage the system performance model.
Lead the integration and troubleshooting of prototype and production systems across hardware, firmware, software, and assay groups.
Perform risk analysis, develop test plans, and execute verification testing of subsystems and systems.
Manage transfer of new products into manufacturing, track issues in manufacturing and the field, and implement resolution of issues.
Perform analysis of complex data sets, including image processing and instrument performance analysis.
Develop algorithms and protocols that can be implemented in firmware and software to optimize system performance.
Propose and investigate new architectures, technologies and products that enable the goals of the product portfolio.
Education and experience:
MS/PhD in the field of Engineering, Physics, or related and >8 years industry experience.
Candidate must have experience in product development, transfer to manufacturing, and documentation.
Candidate must have experience in designing robust mechanical and electrical systems which may include imaging, dynamic motion control, fluidics components, and thermal control.
Candidate must have strong project management skills and interpersonal, relationship-building skills.
Experience in biomedical instruments, biological assays, and/or genetic analysis equipment is preferred.
Experience in FDA regulated markets is a plus.
