Summary : Next Step Living is offering a unique opportunity to help reduce our national energy footprint through data management and statistical analysis. The Senior Data Scientist will become part of Next Step Living’s core management team. A key part of this role will be to help Next Step Living (NSL) use Statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining techniques, and time series prediction to create maps/visualizations of homes that will be great candidates for home energy improvements before stepping into the home. Next Step Living, one of Massachusetts’ fastest growing residential energy conservation and renewable energy companies continues to experience significant year over year growth. The company is data driven and is creating and using innovative data management techniques and technical methodologies. The Senior Data Scientist will create statistical management architecture, analysis, user interaction, and reporting. NSL seeks to continuously improve its statistical and visualization tools and models through the use of the data Next Step Living is capturing in the field every day.

Next Step Living is seeking an Operations Research/Statistician to support management and operations with statistical and mathematical support in statistical data analysis and imagery to include the following:

• Temporal analysis

• Pattern analysis

• Correlation of events

• Probability analysis

• Regression testing & analysis

• Significance testing

• Assessments of sampling

• Graphical representation of data

• Analysis of variance and error

Responsibilities :

· Work closely with management and staff to implement statistical programs/data analysis, and create maps and other forms of data visualizations.

· Develop statistical programs using SAS, SAS/MACRO, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/FSP, Stata, MPLUS and the statistical software R.

· Conduct data analysis of multiple types of data files. Some data will come from public sources such as tax assessor files or stem from population based household surveys (for example, U.S. Census data and Area Resource File.)

· Develop high quality data sets to estimate economic models and hypothesis testing.

Interoperate research protocols and create programs and algorithms in consultation with management and staff.

· Maintain, move and manipulate data between applications, using appropriate software: Microsoft EXCEL spreadsheets, ACCESS database management system, Amazon or other cloud-based data storage system and/or ORACLE.

· Analyze complex data using statistical computer software and other tools such as Microsoft Excel, ArcGIS, Geo-statistical Analyst, etc.

· Reconcile mathematical errors – double counts, omissions, partial transformations, mixed between time zones.

· Write macros and formulas that analysts and others can apply to test data integrity and to make routine operations streamlined

· Create Imagery and perform Imagery & Geospatial Analysts in determining the tools to be used to collect data in a timely and structured manner.

· Assist analysts in developing comprehensive analytic strategies by applying mathematical techniques such as but not limited to statistical analysis, multivariate statistical modeling, statistical data mining and data discovery and by assisting the analyst in developing appropriate quantitative data collection plans, techniques, and methods specific to the analysts problem.

Qualifications :

· Bachelor’s Degree in math, computer science, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

· Expertise in statistical programs (SAS, SAS/MACRO, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/FSP, Stata, MPLUS and the statistical software R.

· At least 7 years’ experience in implementing statistical models using the above software programs.

· At least 5 years’ experience in analysis of datasets and population based household surveys.
