Seeking a strategic planning and organizational development professional to drive the growth of the Direct Businesses group at MetLife. You will work hand-in-hand with the head of strategy and organization planning and senior leadership to execute innovative business plans and catalyze cultural change.

About the Direct Businesses Group at MetLife
Housed in the CMO’s organization, our mission is to help everyone act on their best intentions to protect their financial future – for themselves and their loved ones. We’re building a new business inside a 140-year-old company, creating infrastructure, systems, and procedures to deliver products for an underserved market. At the same time, we are busy managing the daily demands of a growing business.
Consult with senior leadership (e.g., sales, marketing, product, analytics, finance, etc.) to move the integration and execution of business and product plans
Lead workshops and meetings, elevate priorities and promote the alignment of projects with the organization’s strategic vision
Build collaborative relationships to identify, escalate, and address pressing issues and risks
Drive detailed analysis of metrics, monitor the progress of projects and initiatives and summarize trends for an executive audience
Craft a strategy to attract top talent; cultivate a culture that will make it hard for them to leave
Write, develop, and edit communications (that you would want to read) for a diverse, multi-level audience to inspire the adoption of strategic goals and objectives
Determine the impact you will have by defining a brand new role for the Strategic Planning & Organizational Development team
Client Focus – Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal clients; able to obtain and apply first-hand information to improve products and services; dedicated to exceeding client expectations
Analytics – Uses logic to gather, analyze, and understand information; designs and tests solutions when formulating a plan
Produce Deliverables – Experience developing and executing significant projects and taking ownership of key deliverables; understands how to synthesize data and internal client input into a final deliverable (using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, etc.)
Understands Group Dynamics – Interprets organizational cues –including roles, intentions, and needs; assesses what players value and how to motivate them; and anticipates how groups will act in different situations; identifies potential risks and escalates to Chief of Staff, when appropriate
Build Relationships – Expert relationship-builder and collaborator across multiple organizational levels; candid with peers and seeks common ground to solve problems; a team player
Interpersonal Savvy –Build rapports and sustainable trust with a diverse range of people; diplomatic and comfortably diffuses tense situations
Negotiation – Negotiates and resolve conflicts and influences diverse teams of individuals without holding direct authority; identifies common ground to negotiate terms and obtains concessions without damaging relationships
Strong Business Acumen – Focuses on business results; knowledgeable about current and potential future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the internal client’s business and organization; aware of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace to achieve business goals
Quick learner; easily digests complex information and quickly comprehends market and organizational dynamics
Experience managing a budget; intermediate level financial management capabilities
Bachelor Degree and 10+ years of related work experience or Master’s Degree with 7+ years of related work experience
