Build it. Manage it. Make it hum.
Pivotal is seeking a senior level Systems Administrator to join our team in building and managing our physical, virtual and cloud based infrastructure. Do you set up your own labs for fun? Have you ever tried to actually replace yourself with a small shell script? Do you see past the “cloud” buzzword to the true incredible potential behind the idea? Do you think that the future of system infrastructures is more brilliant than the past? Then it’s time for us to talk.
Who is Pivotal?
We are a global software and services company. Our people are diverse, distributed and are world-class talents in their fields.
What does Pivotal do?
Pivotal is building a new platform for a new era, setting the standard for Enterprise Platform- as-a-Service (PaaS). The company’s mission is to enable customers to build a new class of applications, leveraging big and fast data, doing all of this with the power of cloud independence.
What does Pivotal IT do?

Senior+ level systems administration talent and experience with some solid network experience. You should be fluid, comfortable and highly competent in a heterogeneous systems environment. We will work with many teams, communicate with many people, work with vendors, stay within budgets and meet deadlines. We design, plan, implement and maintain and we’re all as likely to set up Nginx as we are to sit down with executives. We share, communicate and train each other. We do travel as needed, but not all the time. We are building the Special Forces, not the whole Army.
What technologies do you use?
Some, of many, with no particular order or grouping: LDAP, VMware, Active Directory, Apache, Nginx, DNS, DHCP, Configuration management such as Puppet or Chef, OpenVPN, iptables, pf, samba, CUPS, Snort, Splunk, MIT KRB5, RSA, AWS, FC-AL, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, git, SVN
