We are a tight-knit group of IT professionals actively developing and maintaining a high-performance computational and storage infrastructure supporting the search for essential drugs, vaccines and diagnostics that will help to eliminate the world's most devastating infectious diseases. Our IT team is fully integrated with the science and we strive for continuous improvement in everything we do. We are smart, energetic, fast-paced, and looking for a key team member.
We seek a Senior Systems Administrator who can take command of a complicated computational and storage environment. We want a technical person who thrives on collaboration and has a passion for using the latest tools for automation and instrumentation. We value the ability to learn new technologies on a daily basis, rather than possessing paper certifications.
Our environment is complex. Automation and consistency is key. A variety of projects with short release cycles, hundreds of servers both on the premises and in the “cloud,” and nearly a petabyte of storage online means we get lots of chances to impress our customers.
The impact of our IT team isn't limited to just server deployments and hardware monitoring. We create tools and processes that our entire computational and business systems infrastructure depends on. We need an individual who thrives on solving problems in creative ways. The right candidate will have experience in a role that provides support to a research or product development team that depends on awesome IT to make them successful.
At Seattle BioMed, we employ intelligent, curious, and fun individuals and we value what it takes to keep them happy. You’ll get the chance to make important architectural decisions, select platforms and guide projects from inception to launch. You'll be supplied with the cutting edge hardware and software you need to do your job and have opportunities to attend conferences to keep you up to date and inspired. Need a book? No problem. Interested in a new technology? Research it, tell us what you’ve learned, and help us integrate it.
We work in the burgeoning South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle with great dining, recreation and transportation options. Work-life balance is important to us and we don’t try to impress each other with how much overtime we’re doing. Building reliable, resilient systems is the key. If you agree this is the way to build and operate IT systems, talk to us.
