Position Summary

Experienced IT specialist who provides technical and operational management support. Under minimal to no supervision is responsible for review, design, modification, maintenance, technical documentation/procedures and support of operating systems, systems components, software tools, and utilities. Coordinates directly with users and other IT departments to determine requirements, resolve issues and implement solutions. Identifies, investigates, and recommends alternative solutions to reduce costs or improve service. Prepares technical documentation and work orders for third party vendors. Responsible for data protection and business continuity planning for hardware, software, and applications. Performs testing to ensure quality and provides training.

Participates in projects. May independently manage projects of moderate scope or manage projects of large scope under supervision. Leads evaluation of emerging technology.

This position requires 24x7x365 day availability in the daily support and operation of mission critical computer systems, applications, and/or networks.

Specializes in one or more of the following platforms:
System Administration of Win 2003 and 2008 servers, both physical and virtual servers

Install and configure IIS (Knowledge of Apache a plus)

Install web applications and configure, manual code promotion out of source control

Security Configuration e.g. win NTFS permissions

System Documentation - document process and procedures and create/implement process doc's

FTP (SFTP) (fileZilla) accounts setup and management

Code promotion scripting (out of Hudson?)

Basic Network knowledge

Coding experience a bonus
  • Familiarity with stress test and pen test tools
  • Scripting tools, grep files
  • Understand how to spot XSS and SQL injection, know basic remediation steps
  • Visual Studio IDE - compile applications, create/manage packages

Position Qualifications

Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Type and Years of Related Experience Required:
Five to seven years of related experience

Technology experience required

Important Decisions/Judgments:
Makes policy decisions using generally accepted guidelines

Relies upon data, own experiences, other’s perspectives, and a clear process when evaluating course of action and making recommendations and decisions

Is required to understand how improving personal efficiency while maintaining quality, impacts the cost effectiveness of team. Also recognizes the impact of scope changes and escalates to the appropriate next level of management

Additional Qualifications:
Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular field

Coordinates the work of others and completes similar work of others

Possesses expert knowledge of a broad range of widely used PC applications

Analytics, Change Management, Communication, Customer Service, Facilitation, Leadership, Negotiation, Project and Time Management are preferred
