The primary responsibility of this position is to assist Information Systems and other department management with the determination of information requirements for the current and planned business processes and the development and support of information systems and procedures in support of iBasis objectives.
This position is responsible for analyzing information needs, managing systems development projects, producing functional specifications, process models, data models, functional design specifications, system acquisition criteria, test plans, business procedures, training plans and documentation. The position will also be expected to maintain knowledge of the applications development environment in order to participate in development planning and testing.
The incumbent is expected to work in cooperation with Sales, Product Management, Finance and other department management and take a leadership position in pursuit of business objectives and project plans. The incumbent will take responsibility for project deliverables, will support other IS staff members and functional department members in support of systems development and support assignments. The incumbent will be expected to exercise responsibility and good judgment in decisions and recommendations.
The duties of this position require a minimum of ten years experience in business systems analysis and design. A thorough knowledge of iBasis services and business practices will be needed.
The position requires the incumbent to have a Bachelor's Degree preferably in business or information sciences. Working knowledge of structured systems analysis and design methodologies is required. Experience with oracle database development for on-line and batch processing development is preferred. Strong competancy of data analysis using SQL required. Experience with project management techniques and tools is required. Experience with Microsoft Access and Reporting tools, i.e. Business Objects, is preferred. Explerience with client applications development is preferred.
Business Systems Analysis
Interpret and communicate broad information system needs to management and development team.
Analyze business processes and recommend systems and procedures for improvement of iBasis business functions.
Analyze specific management information and decision support requirements and recommend improvements in information retrieval systems.
Develop functional requirements specifications, system design specifications, systems/data conversion specifications, data models.
Develop test plans and perform systems tests. Prepare for User Acceptance Testing
Analyze application package software and interpret and recommend alternatives to iBasis management.
Develop systems acceptance criteria, system test plans in conjunction with functional departments.
Assist development team with application team and functional departments to prepare for application deployments
Develop specific project plans and monitor progress against agreed upon schedules and budgets and initiate changes to meet project deadlines.
Develop training plans and training materials and provide training to system users.
Applications Support and Maintenance
Review systems enhancement work requests in conjunction with functional department management and requestors to determine plans for carrying them out.
Respond to system operation problems by determining cause and recommending and initiating activities to restore the system to correct operating procedures and data integrity.
Support functional departments with the development of reports or inquiries.
Analysis of issues or questions using SQL queries.
Maintain current documentation of systems designs and operations procedures.
