Senior Systems Engineer (Desktop)

Bachelor's degree; Significant coursework in Computer Science preferred.
A minimum of 7 years of experience on Windows Desktop Enterprise technologies.
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a technical team lead.
Strong knowledge of the Windows desktop platform; specifically significant technical troubleshooting experience and understand desktop deployment schedules and issues.
Must have Experience with Windows XP to 7 and Office 2010.
Previous hands on desktop deployment experience, including serving as a team lead on upgrades, rollouts and large migration projects.
Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft solution platform as well as hardware knowledge and networking concepts including firewalls.
Strong experience with software packaging and distribution technologies including building OS images.
Experience with Microsoft SCCM, PXE, Service Now and APP-V.
MCSE Professional Series.
VMWare Certified (VCP4 and/or VCP5)
Experience with desktop and application virtualization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent client service skills.
Must be strong technically, be proactive, have strong ability to multitask and meet deadlines and deliverables, possess strong demonstrated leadership skills. Must have experience working as a team lead on projects, procedure implementation, vendor relationships, and handling escalated technical issues.
We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with specific experience in developing and supporting desktop deployments. The Senior Systems Engineer will work in our centralized IT Department and should be operationally focused with experience in supporting large-scale, Windows-based environments. This position also assists with the implementation and support of our base services group and global inventory management system and imaging.
Technical leader for Enterprise Desktop Infrastructure Systems.
Lead and implement solutions according to firmwide processes and procedures PC/Mac hardware standards, software roadmaps, software compatibility, system management tools, and security standards.
Review current imaging process and make process improvement recommendations to IT Functional Manager.
Create standard desktop and laptop configurations, build processes and ensure that desktop standards are communicated and followed consistently across the Firm.
Develop, organize and maintain standard operational procedures for imaging and maintaining inventory as well as the physical deployment of devices to the field.
Research solutions and provide functional and technical written evaluations of products and operating system upgrades and patches.
Assist with and research solutions providing functional and technical written evaluations of products and operating system upgrades and patches.
Collaborate with infrastructure, architecture and development teams to provide implementation blueprints, industry best practice and vendor product guidelines.
Assist with resource allocation, task distribution, delivery management, risk management and other project management tasks.
Create Base Services footprint and structure processes for products such as Adobe, etc, as well as metadata scrubbing, etc.
Play leading role in our Windows XP to 7 and Office 2010 upgrade to include assistance with firmwide deployments; identification of compatibility issues with Windows 7 and our software inventory; review group policies related to PC management/configuration with attention to locked down desktop environment.
Participate in detailed virtualization analysis of current environment.
Evaluate and test VMware products and solutions, Windows/VMWare, etc.
Responsible for playing a lead role in working with consultants, and/or third parties resources to define, develop and deploy virtual technology solutions
