This position is for a systems engineer on Information Operations R&D programs. The work will be run out of BAE Systems Technology Solutions division where our primary customers are DARPA and other government labs. Responsibilities include new concept development, strong technical contribution on programs, proposals and new business pursuits. Much of the work will be performed in the context of small teams consisting of other engineers and academically strong assistant researchers.
Technical: Develops and analyzes complex systems solutions. Develops systems-level requirements. Performs systems-level integration/testing. Designs systems. Prepares documentation for system designs and architectures in accordance with established systems development processes and procedures. Verifies and validates aspects of system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements. Produces and/or reviews complex technical documents, specifications, and standards.
Project Management: Provides project management reporting and documentation. Provides updates to internal project management. May manage task resource allocation and scheduling. Manages small project tasks for small groups (1 - 3). Participates in external project interaction with other companies.
Business Development: Supports business development efforts. Briefs customers on technical concepts. Generates ideas for potential proposals. Responsible for sections of proposals. Establishes relationships with current and potential customers.
Applies pre-established approaches to solve a broad array of problems or differing project initiatives. Seasoned professional in his/her respective discipline. Emerging domain expertise / capabilities. Maintains knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
Position functions within more than one discipline and has broader exposure to interdisciplinary work. Position functions within multiple projects at the same time. Work performed is considered moderately complex to complex within the spectrum of the discipline and in many cases takes into account concepts from other disciplines. Exercises vast discretion and independent judgment in project work. Participates in determining objectives of assignments. Independently determines and develops approaches to assignments.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Required Skills and Education:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Scientific field (or equivalent experience) and 4+ years related experience
Must have an Active US Top Secret clearance.
1. Technical Skills/Experiences (at least two required): information operations understanding, modeling and simulation development, digital signal processing, systems architecture, ICD or protocol analysis and development, interoperability and reverse engineering experience, development at low and high level languages.
2. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers
3. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents
4. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations
5. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule
6. Design and develop products and services using state-of-the-art concepts.
7. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Preferred Skills and Education:
Leadership experience with a focus on empowering teams and developing innovative culture.
Systems: Experience with system of systems approaches. DoDAF understanding. Familiarity with Information Operations and customer missions.
Programming: Programming skills in C, C++, Assembly, Matlab, and Python.
Networking: Experience with cyber/computer network operations. Understanding of communication protocols to include Ethernet, wireless, and unconventional interfaces.
Operating Systems: Familiarity with OS architecture concepts. Competent user of Windows and Linux OSs.
