This position will be responsible for managing the preparation and examination of state and local tax returns and estimates, ensuring timely payments and filings to all jurisdictions. Must interact with business unit personnel to facilitate tax compliance and reporting and assist in the tax impact of business decisions. Responsibility will include tax research and the preparation and/or review of memos to document conclusions. Reports to the Senior Director of Tax.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze and examine data for all of current State & Local tax filings required for entities in the Hochtief USA Inc. & Subsidiaries group
Develop, maintain and continually improve the data collection for property, payroll & sales and compile spreadsheets to prove state apportionment percentages
Examine financial reports to ensure the proper calculation of taxes based on gross receipts
Evaluate and forecast the quarterly State & Local estimated tax payments
Determine the State & Local extension tax payments
Analyze and substantiate Unitary quarterly tax sharing calculations for HT USA, Turner, Flatiron, TSIB, DCN & HT Construction
Examine and analyze the general ledger accounts on a monthly basis to ensure that all transactions have the proper documentation to meet all compliance requirements
Manage the preparation, review, and filing of Joint Venture Tax Compliance
Evaluate financials for all JV’s and reconcile capital accounts
Analyze and approve expense allocation to recover tax costs & liabilities from Partners
Obtain any tax clearance certificates requested by the Business Units
Research and provide recommendations to BU questions
Manage tax audits, assessments and requests for information as necessary
Manage the collection of information and compilation of spreadsheets for the yearend tax provision
Analyze information and compile spreadsheets for annual FIN 48 documentation Supervise outside consultants to ensure all tax registration and filings are in compliance with state, local, federal, and foreign jurisdictions
Degree in Accounting required with 3-5 years experience in corporate tax. CPA preferred and a Masters of Tax degree a plus. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to work across various functions within an organization. Should have strong analytic and problem-solving abilities, able to research complex tax matters and reach sound conclusions. Must be a self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills. Strong computer and IT skills a must. Minimal travel required.
