Senior artist working independently to create, assemble and document all aspects of a game from reel symbol sets to interface layout to fonts. This position is expected to already be well-versed in several Adobe products, but also expected to continually learn new software skills. This position is highly technical in nature so knowledge of the best way to assemble, compress and ability to efficiently deliver assets through the game development pipeline is essential. This position is also expected to have artistic abilities in drawing, rendering, graphic design, color theory, layout, character design, and animation.
Essential Job Functions:
Establish and improve standards and process for converting existing assets into new formats and form factors suitable for online delivery. Convert and deliver these assets.
Demonstrate excellent file structure in artistic source, directory and version management.
communicating between engineers, designer and any non-technical artists to package assets in the most efficient manner for quality products across a range of platforms.
Effectively document and communicate asset package structure to engineers.
Create 2D art in regards to UI, character design, color theory, layout, text treatment, and animation ability.
Continually sharpen software expertise through company training, independent learning, and learning from other team members.
Continually sharpen artistic abilities through company training, independent learning, and learning from other team members.
Work independently and mentor junior team members and non-technical artists as appropriate.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Guide development of tools and scripts to help automate processes where appropriate.
UI design and wireframe creation and design mockup iteration.
Create original art assets and document all art assets created with minimal mistakes.
Aid the art team in selecting and using fonts appropriately in the online product space.
Education: Bachelor of Arts in art/animation or technical degree with extensive artistic experience
Required Experience: 5 years previous experience as a digital artist with a measurable amount of technical responsibility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Highly proficient in Photoshop, Flash, After Effects
Understanding of rendering engines used in browser and mobile games
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of how to design art for various themes and platforms
Working knowledge of MS Office
Excellent drawing and rendering abilities
Ability to create art and animation for all game aspects (screen layout, symbol sets, etc) with minimal guidance.
