The Sr. Telecommunications Technician position will have the responsibility to install, repair and maintain all Voice & Data systems as they relate to Telecommunications. Troubleshoots and resolves problems or refers to other I.T. personnel. Provides technical support and training to ADT's Telephony users. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Telecommunications field.


Field trouble tickets and phone calls from the Helpdesk

Diagnose and solve telecommunications problems

Implement changes and maintain the operation and repair of all related equipment

Set up user accounts and maintain databases

Consult with End Users concerning their needs and evaluate their requests or requirements

Responsible for Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Bi-monthly and Annual Preventive Maintenance of equipment

Responsible for Tape/Disk Backups and Rotations

Train users in use of equipment and/or software

Escalate problems to appropriate I.T. teams based on established guidelines and procedures

Prepare technical reports or related documentation

Study technical manuals to keep up with changes in technology

Obtain quotes from vendors for equipment repair or purchase

Follow all applicable security procedures as they relate to equipment or applications

Visit workplaces or conduct surveys to determine present and future user needs

Work with engineers, analysts, programmers, technicians and managers in the design, testing and evaluations of systems

Comply with all standards, Service Level Agreements and Change Management policies as established by IT Management

Use project management techniques for assigned projects



Technical certificate/diploma in Telecommunications and 2 - 4 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Good knowledge of Avaya PBX, Intuity Audix VMail, ACD, Avaya CMS, DS1 / DS3 & Trunking

  • Solid understanding of voice and data communication concepts
Must have experience working with Microsoft applications such as Word Excel and Outlook

Excellent customer service skills

Ability to work in team environment but can self-direct when necessary

Experience working under tight deadlines and high pressure environments

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills

On-call after hours


Able to lift 40 pounds from floor to waist
