KIXEYE is looking for a Senior Performance Test Engineer to join the Quality Engineering team; an agile, fast-paced group providing automated testing services for multiple online games.

You will work with QA, CS, Operations and Production to identify, test and track performance problems via automated load and regression testing. You will create new tests and test harnesses to accelerate the testing cycle, expand test coverage and provide greater visibility into the true, measured state of the game, and the efficiency of the production cycle itself.

The Quality Engineering group is also set up to act as a pipeline to recruit, train and transfer engineers into the production teams themselves, bringing a proven skill set and a deep understanding of Test Driven Development to the game teams.

What you get to do every day:
Design and run a set of performance/load/regression/development testing tools and environments.

Analyze multisource data to model usage profiles and traffic projections, and find hotspot risk areas within the game code itself. You'll translate performance and stability metrics into operational capacity needs at scale and report daily/weekly/monthly trends, continually refining tests to match the rapidly shifting system implementation.

Aggregate production metrics, regression metrics and source code metrics to expose risk and optimization points in the Platform implementation and Production processes. Continually refine the accuracy of production velocity trends, performance trends, defect trends and hotspot analysis tools to accelerate development and support weekly/biweekly/monthly release schedules.

Manage a performance test environment, running thousands of automated tests at the system and subsystem levels. Establish repeatable baselines and optimize the test harnesses and processes to improve the test cycle speed, minimize variance, and transform raw data into actionable information.

Conduct research on leading-edge performance related tools, trends and methodologies; adapting in adopting the best. In particular, Test Driven Development, Kaizen process improvement and the correlation of player, platform and production metrics are of interest. A strong background in data aggregation/disaggregation and data visualization is also of value.

Who are you?

You're a senior performance test engineer who wants to make an impact on the cost and quality of distributed SaaS games. Your expertise and passion is continually defining and extending performance/production testing to improve the turnaround cycle time and the overall quality bar for online games. You either have a strong background in online game testing, or you’re looking to break into the industry via your top-tier software testing and analysis skills. You’re a relentless perfectionist, able to adapt on-the-fly as requirements and conditions shift. You’re adept in firefighting but your focus is fire prevention. You long to tackle the classic conundrum: optimizing better, faster and cheaper at the same time.

Preferred Skills:
Minimum three years of testing experience, ideally with LoadRunner, Parasoft Load Test, JMeter, Grinder, or similar open source tools.

Experience developing performance/functionality harnesses, and automated testing at the system and subsystem levels. Capable of identifying performance problems in multi-tiered system architectures, then adding test and measure hooks to investigate such problems in Live and Test environments.

Excellent coding skills in one or more of the following: Java, Groovy, Python, Scala, C++.

Full life cycle software product development and testing process experience.

Cross platform experience (Mac, Windows, UNIX and ideally Mobile and handheld devices).

Testing network technology (proxy servers, load balancers, HTTP, TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, …).

Good to excellent writing and communication skills and excellent problem solving skills.

Bonus points: experience with bug tracking systems (Bugzilla, Jira), test case management systems, software project tracking tools, Continuous Integration systems, such as Jenkins/Hudson, and ALM.
