The Distribution Services segment of our company is dedicated to the wholesale distribution of specialty pharmaceuticals - focusing on oncology and other specialty products. Our Specialty Patient Services group provides compliance and adherence programs, as well as reimbursement hotlines, patient assistance and support programs and the managed distribution of pharmaceutical products. Our Specialty Solution Center is the largest single-site call center in healthcare, offering a centralized approach to optimize manufacturer product reimbursement and access. Our US Oncology operations unite one of the nation's largest health-care services network devoted exclusively to cancer treatment and research, and is a pioneer in community-based cancer care. Annually, the united network of more than 9,000 physicians, clinicians, nurses, and administrators delivers integrated cancer care to more than 850,000 cancer patients in community-based clinics located in 41 states.

Senior UNIX Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading, and administrating 50+ UNIX servers running Linux, Solaris, and AIX operating systems. Analyzing environments for opportunities in performance and optimization and making recommendations for effective strategies. Works with existing application teams to understand the proper usage of the systems and what type performance and utilization is required from the application development teams. Perform system cloning, system migrations, systems upgrade planning, and implementation of change management procedures. Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools. Recommends and implements changes in maintenance and system configuration settings. Provide technical support and general troubleshooting of UNIX systems within the McKesson Specialty Health infrastructure. Perform on-call duties as periodically required.
  • 6+ years of Unix Administration experience.
  • 5+ years of Unix Sun Administration in a clustered environment
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux, Solaris, AIX, Apache and SAN
  • Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments
  • Shell programming expertise
  • In-depth hardware configuration knowledge
  • Knowledge of Network technologies
  • Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies
  • Knowledge of Oracle, RMAN, Veritas NetBackup, IBM Tivoli, Nagios.
  • HP Blade chassis experience
  • Ability to interpret and understand database schemas to ensure database integrity.
  • Working experience with Multi-tier environment involving Windows and UNIX servers.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with non-technical people
  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
