The global server design team is searching for a senior Unix Server Designer. The designer’s role is to assess how application requirements can be met with approved servers, storage and software technologies. Working with vendors and internal customers to gather requirements for new and updated hardware and software needs, design solutions suitable for the global enterprise environment.. Communicate effectively with global IT teams and document server designs using standard MS office templates and MS Visio. Evaluate new hardware, operating systems, and management software. Participate in long-range and strategic systems planning and evaluate new technologies while assuring they are consistent with business objectives.


BS degree in IT-related technical field, or equivalent experience.
5+ years Solaris experience, including deep experience in Solaris v10, as well as high-end M series servers.
Excellent project management skills and people management skills in a team environment
Ability to multi-task across multiple projects and teams
Proven interpersonal, written/verbal communication, organizational and leadership skills
Experience with Veritas products: Volume Manager, File System, Database Edition, Cluster, Database Edition Advanced Cluster, and Netbackup Expertise in Red HAT Enterprise Linux
Experience managing servers running Oracle databases.
At least 3 years experience with NIS, Solaris Jumpstart, LDAP, Active Directory, or NDS.
At least 3 years experience with Source code management using CVS and GForge.
Understanding of various backup strategies including file system, disk to disk, array-based copies, BLIB, and RMAN
Ability to write scripts in Perl, Bourne Shell (sh), Korn Shell (ksh), or Bourne Again Shell (bash)
Proven ability to maintain leading edge skills in a rapidly changing information systems environment


Experience working in an FDA (or similar) regulated systems environment.
