The Senior Web Designer will serve as an integral part of the Web Development team by carefully translating graphic designs into functioning HTML / CSS /JS. This individual will coordinate with back-end developers in the creation and maintenance of the university’s website. This position is focused on front-end design. Reports to the Web Content Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
-Work within and uphold the established project workflow to effectively collaborate with fellow designers, developers, and clients.
-Lead in the designing, coding, and testing of online projects.
-Write front-end code ( HTML / CSS /JS) for custom applications.
-Take web design from wireframe stage to web presentation.
-Make changes to the website as directed.
-Manage a variety of electronic communications as needed for external relations.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Fluent in HTML (5), CSS (3), SASS , LESS , SCSS .
-Experience with object oriented programming.
-Knowledge and demonstrated experience with Adobe suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
-Understanding and experience with designing across multiple browsers.
-Familiar with responsive web design.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
-Ability to take HTML skeletons from back-end developers and produce a polished presentation layer.
-Experience with a variety of frameworks, such as Drupal or Wordpress.
-2 years of job-related experience. Related education can substitute for experience.
-High school diploma or GED .
-Finalist candidate must satisfactorily complete pre-employment background check.
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science, communication or related field.
-Familiarity with server side languages, such as PHP , Ruby, etc.
-Experience in branding.
