Senior Wind Assessment Analyst Scope of Position The Senior Wind Assessment Analyst is responsible for analyzing measured wind data and producing energy estimates for EDF Renewable Energy’s North American wind project portfolio. The employee will work in a collaborative, open, team of technical analysts and must possess the ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment. In a senior analyst role, the employee will be expected to help define technical best-practices and train others in their use. Strong communication skills are required to disseminate results and perceived risks to senior management and non-technical audiences.

Classification: Exempt

Working Conditions 85% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers, (frequent use of GIS, Wind Assessment software and models, MS Word, and MS Excel), telephones and general office equipment. 15% of the time will be spent out of the office visiting project sites and attending meetings and conferences.

Responsibilities
· Estimate energy production for wind projects under development
· Analyze the performance of operational wind projects
·
Design turbine layouts to optimize energy production and minimize construction costs
·
Microsite turbine locations for EDF Renewable Energy windfarms under development
·
Communication of site characteristics, energy production potential, and risks to members of the Senior Management Team and Regional Developers
·
Analyze and solve resource assessment and development challenges
·
Maintain current industry knowledge and cutting edge resource assessment technologies
·
Mentoring Resource Assessment Engineers
·
Analyze data to identify and evaluate new sites for future projects
·
Identify turbine suitability and assess alternatives
·
Support sound propagation, shadow flicker, and radar interference studies as needed
·
Support the key project development functions for all projects; including financial feasibility analysis, permitting, engineering/design, due diligence, project legal review, etc.
·
Support Project Managers with new project RFPs and bid activities
·
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Wind Assessment or his/her designee
Qualifications
· Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in wind resource assessment
· Bachelor of Science in engineering, meteorology, mathematics, fluids modeling and/or hydrology, the natural or physical sciences, GIS with supporting science background or experience, or B.S. in an integrated degree that demonstrates core competencies in science and/or engineering

Master’s degree preferred; experience in lieu of Master’s considered; energy industry experience ideal
·
Experienced in Wind Assessment Software (Windographer, Windfarmer, WAsP, OpenWind, Meteodyn, or other fluid dynamics modeling software) and ArcGIS
·
Highly motivated self-starter, ability to work well with others and be a team player
·
Demonstrated ability to think creatively about scientific and technical issues
·
Good organizational and communications skills
·
Experienced with various Microsoft software programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
