Write and edit highly creative copy for preseason concepts and in-season execution that elevates brand messaging and voice projection. Conceptualize and lead brand-wide projects, launches and campaigns including Victoria's Secret Lounge (VSL), apparel product design and PINK. Write catalogue/web copy that builds the brand through tone, style, story and content. Partner with Merchants, Marketing, Creative, Publishing and Web teams. Lead and manage content from concepting through final execution. Responsible for the creative execution of all assigned projects, including managing catalogue and web projects. Assist with training and supervising freelance or staff copywriters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and be able to articulate brand elevation goals and consistently drive towards new,
innovative and inspiring copy ideas and creative projection
- Translate Merchant and Marketing initiatives into strong, sophisticated creative solutions
- Partner with Merchants on product categories and launches to understand product benefits and key
messages. Own communication to the team and act as a resource.
- Write and edit catalogue/web headlines, supporting messaging and editorial stories
- Drive what is new throughout entire end-to-end process, including delegation of responsibilities using Project Manager for support
- Execute and delegate rewrites post editing, layout/film reviews and merchant corrections
- Oversee project workflow and plan out scheduling to ensure all deadlines are met with accuracy; anticipate challenges or conflicts and raise issues to manager
- Develop and write strategic ideas for seasonal creative strategy; participate in creation and preparation of presentation decks; and present information out to cross-functional and copy team
- Responsible for final execution of preseason concepts to ensure they are carried out
- Drive in-season initiatives, including partnering with design to impact pagination.
- Interface and partner with Photo, Design, Graphic Production, Web and Coordination teams
- Contribute to and interface with VSL Design, Apparel design, VSS and PINK on creative projects
- Attend Executive and other high-level meetings when manager needs coverage, and be prepared to speak to copy issues
- Responsible for identifying and communicating out changes that impact others (on copy team, Victoria's Secret Stores copy team, VSL team, etc.)
- Lead naming projects and creative brainstorming, leveraging talent across the team
- Research merchandise/product launches with merchants, the fashion team, and the market
- Execute and delegate rewrites post editing, layout/film reviews and merchant corrections, own cascade of info across team
- Proofread copy to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency of style
- Oversee and edit freelancers and/or staff product copy writers

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent writing skills with a strong portfolio dedicated to inspiring creative approaches
- Must be an idea person and true problem-solver
- Attuned to the fashion industry, aware of current trends in retail and publishing (blogs, social media, etc.)
- Extremely creative writer who understands brand voice and is able to elevate and evolve copy, and train others on voice
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and readjust priorities in order to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, with ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to identify solutions and present to manager to resolve issues
- Active engagement and participation in meetings and dialogues
- Team player that partners across a creative team
- Ability to work under deadline pressure
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to respond to feedback and synthesize complex information from multiple sources, translating it into creative solutions, and explaining it to others
- Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail, as well as a holistic vision

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 5+ years copywriting or fashion/beauty editorial writing experience
- Knowledge of fashion and beauty; intimate apparel an asset
- Experience leading and managing copywriters preferred
- Project management experience
- MAC proficient: InDesign, Word, Excel, Keynote and/or PowerPoint
- Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style and AP Handbook

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to read and proofread copy
- Ability to type and manipulate a mouse
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

REPORTS TO: Copy Manager
STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES: Freelancers/temps. Potential for direct reports.
LOCATION/TRAVEL: New York based, limited, if any, travel
