Divisional Description:
Transamerica's Individual Savings & Retirement (IS&R) engages in the creation, distribution and servicing of mutual funds and variable and fixed annuities. These innovative solutions help consumers address their accumulation, protection and retirement income needs. Our products are distributed through banks, wirehouses, broker/dealers and institutional clients. IS&R is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Denver, Colorado; and St. Petersburg, Florida.

Position Information:
The position will be hired as a Senior Human Resources Generalist or Intermediate Human Resources Generalist. Job and compensation levels depend upon a candidate’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR. Please see below for the job description and qualifications, including prior experience, for each level.

Senior Human Resources Generalist:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with the top management to develop, maintain and ensure quality operations of human resources processes including, total rewards, organizational planning, organization development, talent acquisition, employee relations, safety, attendance and employee development Demonstrates flexible leadership and is highly skilled at goal setting, coaching, performance evaluation active listening feedback and proactive problem solving. Possess a thorough knowledge of Human Resources policies/procedures and state and federal laws. Frequently reports to the HR Manager. Some areas within HR might report to this position.

Responsible for the day to day implementation of policies and programs covering several areas including Recruiting, training, employee relations, compensation and employment. Recommends changes to policies and Programs when appropriate.

Manage the recruitment process including discussing staff needs with line managers, sourcing, screening and interviewing applicants, and developing and extending offers of employment. Supports annual Affirmative Action Plan and ensures a consistency of policy application, equitable treatment of people, and safe working environment standards in compliance with all state and local requirements.

Assist with employee performance management activities including annual reviews, success planning and compensation.

Manage recruitment (administration/reference checks/operations).

Direct some payroll activities such as unemployment, garnishments, bonuses.

Administer compensation programs, including annual performance reviews, salary planning, incentive compensation and non-cash programs.

Manage technology (LMS/HRIS/Intranet).

Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.

Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction, and all safety rules.

Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 or more years HR experience and a broad knowledge of applicable laws and policies. Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), LMS, HRIS and database management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in HR. Advanced degree or SHRM Certification (PHR), CCP. Human Resources. Ability to have a balance in being strategic focused while also being a human resource business partner. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead people at all levels. Ability to facilitate and influence change. Possess effective facilitation and coaching skills. Active affiliation with appropriate Human Resources networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement. Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organization development, benefits administration, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations. Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.

Intermediate Human Resources Generalist:
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with the middle management to develop, maintain and ensure quality operations of human resources processes including, total rewards, organizational planning, organization development, talent acquisition, employee relations, safety, attendance and employee development. Possess a thorough knowledge of Human Resources policies/procedures and state and federal laws. Frequently reports to the HR Manager. Some areas within HR report to this position.
