The Server Administrator Apprentice I is responsible for administrative tasks from the Server Administration group, and assisting the Server team with technical support needs.
Learn the processes, procedures, and systems supported by the Server Administration group.
Provides basic technical support to users to resolve problems in conjunction with the other IT Production Services teams.
Perform a wide range of system administration duties, including: applications hosting, server installs, debugging, maintenance, upgrades, and general support.
Demonstrates the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity while remaining calm and controlled.
Conveys information of a technical nature to non-technical audiences in a clear and professional manner.
Provide on-call support on a periodic basis.
Attends and actively participates in weekly meetings.
Consults with senior peers on non-complex projects to learn through experience.
Follows the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Participate in IT projects helping prepare technical designs that reflect business requirements and are consistent with IT Strategy and overall IT Architecture.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience may be substituted for education.
Up to 3 years’ experience professional, technical, customer support experience in a corporate environment supporting hardware and software for both on campus and remote users
Knowledge of IT operations and workflow processes/procedures
Experience supporting a Windows environment
Familiarity with VMware in a Windows environment
Experience supporting desktops, laptops Windows servers and other peripherals
Knowledge of VPN and Remote Access, ability to type 45 wpm
